When it comes to planning a trip in Disney World, there are many factors you need to consider!
Not only do you have to figure out dates that work for you and your group’s schedule, but then you have to buy tickets, make Park Pass Reservations, decide if you want Genie+, book a hotel, and create dining reservations. On top of all that, there are some things that will be different at Disney World in February. Let’s jump in and see what changes are hitting the resort!
Rock n Roller Coaster Is Closing
It’s refurbishment season meaning several rides, attractions, and pools are closing to get some TLC. Unfortunately, this means that some of the most popular rides may be closed during your visit to the parks. So if you’re going to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in February, make a note that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will close for refurbishment.
The coaster will close on February 20th, 2023 and will reopen sometime in the summer. When popular rides close, it can make the other wait times in the park go up — keep that in mind when visiting during this closure!

Princess Half Marathon Weekend
runDisney events are a big hit for runners causing the parks and hotels to be a bit crowded. That’s why we want to warn you about the dates for the upcoming Princess Half Marathon Weekend!
The Princess Half Marathon weekend will take place from February 23rd-26th, 2023 with a different race each day. We recently experienced the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend which can give you an idea about the crowds, the hotel availability, and road closures.

Characters Return to Cinderella’s Royal Table
Believe it or not, character experiences have not returned to “normal” in Disney World just yet! Although many character meals like Crystal Palace and ‘Ohana breakfast are back to pre-pandemic status, Cinderella’s Royal Table has had a modified experience.
BUT this changes on February 28th, 2023 when regular character dining returns to this iconic Magic Kingdom restaurant! Several princesses will be around to visit your table while you dine in Cinderella Castle.

Frontierland Will Be Different
In case you missed it, Splash Mountain’s closing date is January 23rd, 2023, meaning Frontierland will look pretty different in February. Not only will there be fewer people in this area of the park, but we will start seeing construction as Splash Mountain transforms into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is set to open in late 2024, so this area of the park will look different for a while. The ride will pickup where The Princess and the Frog left off “after the final kiss, and join Princess Tiana and Louis on a musical adventure – featuring some of the powerful music from the film – as they prepare for their first-ever Mardi Gras performance.”

It’s possible that Disney World could face even more changes in February! Disney recently announced that PhotoPass attraction photos would be added to Genie+ and that Park Pass Reservation requirements would change for Annual Passholders. There is currently no date for when these changes will go into effect, but we’ll let you know when Disney makes another announcement!

Still irritated about Splash Mountain closing!!! It’s totally unnecessary! Why not build another ride for Tiana beyond Big Thunder Mountain? Increasing the footprint of MK is a good thing! Look at Tron.
