Splash Mountain is about to close in Disney World — for good.
If you want to ride the classic attraction before it’s gone, you need to make sure you’re in Magic Kingdom before January 22nd. But, for guests visiting Magic Kingdom today — it wasn’t so easy to visit the Briar Patch and ride Splash Mountain.
Splash Mountain was CLOSED for most of the first part of the day in Magic Kingdom today!
Guests who were hoping to get in a final ride on the attraction before it closes were unable to do so for several hours. Disney World rides often shut down temporarily if something malfunctions or if there is an issue with part of the attraction. When that happens, we usually suggest heading to a different attraction and keeping an eye on My Disney Experience to see if the ride is available again later in the day.
When we stopped by, there was no water flowing at the top of the mountain!
In this case, Splash Mountain eventually reopened later in the afternoon — and almost immediately had a wait time of OVER an hour. It looks like guests aren’t taking any chances and are trying to hop on before Splash Mountain closes at the end of the day on January 22nd.
In case you missed it, Splash Mountain is being transformed into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in both Disney World and Disneyland, and for more details on the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride, you can check out our posts below:
