In 2020, Disney announced plans for closing Splash Mountain to make way for a new attraction themed after Princess and the Frog. For some time the closure was a vague, far-off date, but in December of 2022 Disney gave us an official closing date for the ride.
Tomorrow is the last day for guests to ride Splash Mountain in Magic Kingdom. On January 23rd, the ride will be closed permanently to prepare for the retheming as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
Since the official announcements, guests have been making sure to get their last rides in (unfortunately having to also deal with frequent closures), and Sunday is the final day the Magic Kingdom attraction will take guests through an adventure with Brer Rabbit and his neighbors.
Splash Mountain opened in 1992 and is a combination of the classic Disney dark ride and a fun log flume, featuring songs like “Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah.” Over 100 audio-animatronics bring the scenes in this ride to life! While we don’t know all of the details for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, we have seen a sneak peek of the interior and it looks like they’re planning on retaining plenty of the core structure of the original Splash Mountain attraction.
If you are going to miss your opportunity to ride Splash one more time at Disney World, the Disneyland version is still open! Disney hasn’t announced when the Disneyland Splash Mountain will be closing for its retheme, so stay tuned to our site for more ride updates.

I think the t-shirts say it all. One a fun happy musical joy and the other a grim boring blah message. This is a vwry sad day.
