California Grill is a Disney World ICON. The restaurant is located at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, one of the opening-day hotels, and is a fine dining establishment that has been recognized by the Michelin Guide.
During the 50th anniversary celebrations in Disney World California Grill premiered a special 3-course prix fixe menu with Californian cuisine and items inspired by the original restaurant menu that stood in its spot on opening day. Now, however, that menu is CHANGING, and we have details on the new pricing here.
Despite being pricey (a cool $89 per adult and $39 per child), we thought the food on the 50th anniversary menu was tasty, and the views from this spot are second to none; we think this would also be an excellent choice to celebrate special occasions! As we approach the finale of the 50th celebrations, we’ve been curious whether the current menu would be retired.
Recently, Disney announced that the current menu will be offered through March 31st, 2023, which is the official end of the 50th Anniversary celebration. While some might be sad to see the menu go, Disney teased a new 3-course selection that will be replacing the 50th menu, and it sounds pretty interesting! The announcement stated that the new menu will feature “contemporary, market-inspired cuisine” beginning on April 1st, 2023.
We also got a sneak peek at some of the dishes that will be offered! A savory Fire-Roasted Venison, rich Goat Cheese Raviolo, and light Lemon Chiffon Cake are just some of the options this new menu will have. The dishes will feature fresh and seasonal ingredients as they come together to celebrate Californian cuisine. Disney also promises “new flavors, textures and techniques” and that this menu will be a continuation of the 50th Anniversary celebration offering. With the last iteration of this prix fixe menu costing a pretty penny, many are wondering if the new menu will be as costly (or even more).
Today, Disney announced the price for the prix fixe menu at California Grill will remain the same: $89 per adult (ages 10 and up) and $39 per child (ages 3 to 9). When budgeting, keep in mind this price does not include taxes, gratuity, or beverages, but it does include one appetizer, one entrée, and one dessert per person. If you’re interested in trying out this new menu, reservations open on January 31st, 2023.

Still a maybe. We’ll get water to drink, if we go.

We won’t be returning to the CG until the prix fixe is gone and the older CG returns. Then, look for us at the Sushi Counter, but not before.

Loved California Grill in the past but will not be paying this overpriced prix fixe menu. Some of us just don’t eat desserts or want an appetizer at every meal. We can find a decent meal at half the price. With the increase in the number of restaurants going to prixe fixe, we will be limiting our choices for table service. I see what Disney is doing by increasing prices everywhere to cater to the guests that can afford a higher budget. I can, but I won’t.
