DOLE Whip creations in Disney World can be wonderfully delicious or, apparently, DANGEROUS.
We have had all kinds of DOLE Whip treats over the years — DOLE Whip flights, a POG juice DOLE Whip float, and floats themed to characters you can’t even meet in Disney World. But Disney’s latest DOLE Whip option is one that may be dangerous for a very specific reason.
Introducing the Valentine Red Velvet Cone! You can find this snack at Swirls on the Water in Disney Springs.

Chocolate Soft-serve Ice Cream, Heart Sprinkles, and a Chocolate-covered Mickey-shaped Cookie. It’s all served in a red waffle cone.
You can pick one up for $6.49.
We’ve seen Valentine’s Day DOLE Whip creations in the past (we’ve even seen some at Disneyland!), so we had to give this one a try!
First, in terms of looks, there’s no denying that this is a totally Instagrammable, beautiful treat. The red in the cone really pops, the sprinkles add a fun touch, the colors of the DOLE Whip and soft serve mix really well, and the Mickey cookie on top is just the “icing on the cake.”
In terms of taste, it’s also a solid treat — combining those classic Valentine’s day flavors of strawberry and chocolate. But keep this in mind — the chocolate and strawberry here are VERY different (in terms of texture and flavor), mainly because the chocolate is soft serve ice cream while the strawberry is DOLE Whip.
The chocolate is a bit smoother, while the DOLE Whip is slightly different. Plus, the strawberry is very tangy, which we loved, but it could throw some people off if they’re expecting a milky, mild taste similar to strawberry ice cream. If you go in knowing how different those two elements are, you may really enjoy this treat. But if you don’t expect it, it can be a bit jarring.
The little Mickey cookie on top was crisp and crumbly on the inside and had a nice chocolate covering. It was nice, but nothing tremendously special.
So what’s the big problem or danger with this treat? Well, it actually is the cone, or rather the sprinkles and the way they’re stuck to the cone. While the sprinkles on the cone create a neat effect visually, it looks like Disney used a clear liquid sugary substance to stick them there. That might otherwise be fine, but in this instance, that liquid made things VERY sticky and hard to eat.
When we got to the edge of the cone and started to bite into the portion with the sprinkles, the sugary substance practically made our teeth stick together. That was really unexpected in a not-so-great way. We could see this really discouraging people from eating the rest of the cone because you have to get through that extremely sticky portion at the top to get to the “good” part closer to the middle/bottom.
To us, it was a critical flaw. We either had to get through the dangerously sticky part that made us fear for the health of our teeth to really enjoy the red velvet cone and the soft serve at the bottom, or forgo those last few bites of ice cream. It was a situation we did NOT want to be put in.
Overall, if you love Strawberry DOLE Whip and chocolate ice cream, want a pretty Valentine’s Day treat, and are willing to chomp through that sticky portion, this could be a good option for you!
But if you’re looking for a more milky strawberry ice cream flavor and do NOT want to feel your teeth stick together because of all that sugar with the sprinkles, you will want to stay away! We expect this seasonal snack will only be available around the Valentine’s Day holiday, so grab it while you can if you want to give it a try.

It looks great, but the chances of me remembering this treat from my living room chair, all the way to Disney Springs (30 min) and getting this is literally none. Can’t someone (DFB/hint/hint) produce a list of what is new and special this week at all of the eating establishments, and when they will be discontinued.
