UPDATE on Disney’s Master-Planned Communities

Okay, living IN the parks may not be a possibility right now, but Disney has built some communities outside the parks where you can live (though it’s NOT cheap!). A while ago, it was announced that Disney would start building a master-planned community called Cotino in California, which would be a Storyliving by Disney project. Now we’ve got a big update on WHEN the first guests could be welcomed into the community!

Storyliving by Disney is a project that sets out to “create vibrant new neighborhoods that are infused with [their] special brand of magic.” These master-planned communities will bring some of the joys of the parks right into the neighborhood with specially designed spaces and lots of unique amenities.

In a recently released YouTube video, Imagineers gathered before dawn to paint the 360-degree view of the sunrise rising over the mountains to use as inspiration for the incoming community.

Amy Young and Cathy Ritenour, the spokeswomen in the video, also revealed when the development will begin sales, and it’s sooner than you think!

Cotino will begin selling spots in the community this year, 2023! A specific month or timeline has not yet been announced, but we are very much looking forward to keeping up with this project. As for where the project stands right now, the company is working on grading, utilities, and creating mockups of the perimeter wall.

This area, Coachella Valley in Rancho Mirage, was frequented by Walt Disney himself and served as a creative outlet and provided inspiration for many projects. Remember the catch though — the community’s 1900 housing units will be reserved only for those 55+! As always, stay tuned to DFB for all the latest Disney news.
