One of the best things about splurging for one of the resorts along the Monorail line is their proximity to Magic Kingdom.

Grand Floridian

Not only can you get to the park quickly, but usually you have a variety of transportation options that leaves you split for choice! Unfortunately, one of the most convenient options will be going away for a while.

You may have noticed a considerable amount of construction going on around both Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Luckily the construction has remained out of the way for the most part, but we recently learned another way it will affect us. In 2020 Disney World opened a new walking path connecting these resorts to Magic Kingdom which gave guests another option for getting between the park and their resort. This walking path between the Grand Floridian Resort and Magic Kingdom will close on February 13th, 2023, as Disney continues construction on the area.

Goodbye walkway!

This path won’t be closed forever! Disney hasn’t released an exact reopening date, but announced that it would be available once again in late spring. During this time, the walkway from the Polynesian will also be closed. But don’t worry — there are a few other ways to get from your resort to Magic Kingdom! The boats will still be running, as will the iconic Monorail.

If you’ll be staying at either of these resorts in the next few months, keep this in mind when planning your Magic Kingdom days. The boats and Monorail will probably be busier than usual.
