If you’re heading to Disney World, there are a lot of things that might put a damper on your vacation.
We’ve been unexpectedly sick in the parks before, been caught in terrible weather, and missed our fair share of dining reservations and Lightning Lane windows. But on top of all that, we often see unexpected ride closures — and today there were quite a few!
When we checked the My Disney Experience app this morning, several rides were marked as temporarily unavailable across the four parks. One of the most prominent problems was over at Hollywood Studios, where both Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster had downtime.
At the time of publishing, Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster have both reopened, but we’ll continue to keep an eye out. These two rides have had a somewhat rough go of things lately. Luckily, Tower of Terror has multiple elevator shafts, so they can close one as needed, but if there’s a problem at the coaster, the entire ride has to close down.
It seems that this problem tends to be a bit more prevalent in the morning, when the rides are first getting up and running for the day, so be aware of that during your visit.
And that fact may partially be the reason that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is set to close for a big refurbishment soon. The ride will close on February 20th and reopen sometime in the summer — that’s a few months of closure! Hopefully, the ride will get the repairs and refresh that it needs during that time.
We’ll be watching the My Disney Experience app throughout the day to see which other rides have closures, and we’ll update you with any important information. Many of the rides that were down earlier this morning have since reopened, and you can see the full list in the wait times section of the app (where you can also sort by park).
