One iconic fast-food chain is going fowl free! (For some menu items, anyway.)
We already told you about an iconic treat that’s returning soon, but now there’s an entirely NEW menu item coming to McDonald’s. The updated snack is debuting soon, and it might ruffle a few feathers. McDonald’s has been testing the switch in popular menu items in various markets but how well has it been received?
McDonald’s Chicken McNuggets have probably been a household favorite of yours — or your children — for years. Now, the Chicago-based fast food chain is looking at adding a twist on this classic to the menu.
According to an article by APnews, McDonald’s is going to release McPlant Nuggets. The nuggets will be made of peas, corn, and wheat with a tempura batter and will actually be the second plant-based menu offering from the company. This is the latest project that McDonald’s has co-developed with Beyond Meat, a California-based company and maker of plant-based meats. Beyond Meat helped McDonald’s debut McPlant Burgers on their menus in 2021. Beyond Meat has also worked on previous projects with other fast food chains such as KFC and Panda Express and has been distributing to U.S. grocery stores since 2021.
McDonald’s has said that the availability of the McPlant nuggets and plant-based burgers in future markets will depend on customer demand. European customers have generally been more receptive to McDonald’s plant-based meat products than those in the U.S. The McPlant burger is now a permanent menu item in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Austria, and the Netherlands. Last month, McDonald’s rolled out the Double McPlant burger in the U.K. and Ireland.
Plans for rolling out their McPlant nuggets to more than 1,400 restaurants in Germany will start soon and follow a limited-time test at nine restaurants in the Stuttgart area in August. There are also plans to unveil the McPlant burger on menus in Germany next week. However, in the U.S. market, McDonald’s previously tested the McPlant burger last summer and currently has no plans to return it to the markets here in the near future.

Those sound disgusting. Bring back the steak egg and cheese bagel. You don’t listen to the customers. Many wants the bagel sandwiches back. All we have heard is they are back but Nebraska hasn’t been able to buy them.

When I was 11, my family took a vacation to Paris. I was so excited. We saw the Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and Versailles. It was amazing and beautiful and so different from NYC, our hometown. Then I saw a McDonalds and I wanted to cry. Of all the wonderful things from my country to be represented in Paris, we sent them a cheap fast food chain.
McDonalds in Disney is a shame. Disney is supposed to be about storytelling and family. McDonalds is junk food that contributes to obesity in our children as it PRs its way into the guise of family food.

The McRib, year around, would be amazing!!
I can assure you that not all of McDonald’s customer’s are “woke” herbivores….

This is fantastic! Sorry but people aren’t wanting to eat animals any longer! I’m so!

They talk about the US market not being so receptive, but considering US McD’s still doesn’t have fries that are veg friendly, I wouldn’t be as inclined to go for something else if I can’t get a meal.

They should have tried the McPlant burgers in the Northwest. I think it would have gone over well here. Same thing with the plant based chick nuggets. I think Burger King is proof there is definitely a market for plant based fast food.
