We’re here in Universal Studios Hollywood for the opening weekend of Super Nintendo World!
We got the opening timeline for this new land back in June of 2022, and now it’s finally here. We’ve spent a whole day exploring this new space, but here’s a compilation of everything Super Nintendo World has to offer!
Rides
Right now, Super Nintendo World has one ride, Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge. In this ride, four people are in one cart, and you will work with Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach to win the race against Bowser. The ride alone is worth checking out for the queue — if you’re a Nintendo fan, you’re going to spot a LOT of Easter Eggs.
The dark ride uses both visual and practical effects, and guests will wear 3D glasses for the full experience. Riders will win the challenge by collecting coins and throwing shells.
Yes, you’re competing for the Golden Cup!
Experiences
In the land, you’ll also be able to meet Mario, Luigi…
…and Princess Peach!
To interact with the land even further, you can also buy a Power-Up Band for $40, which are available in multiple retail locations around the park. These bands come in 6 different styles inspired by beloved Nintendo characters. The bands will allow you to interact with special park elements, collect digital coins, complete “key challenges,” and more.
If you want to delve into the gaming experience, the bands will link with the Universal app so you can collect points, stamps, and more!
You’ll be able to use the app to discover more activities you can participate in, too.
With your Power-Up Band, you can participate in the Key Challenges around the land: Goomba Crazy Crank, Koopa Troopa POWer Punch, Piranha Plant Nap Mishap, and Thwomp Panel Panic.
The entire land is basically a game you can interact with.
Dining
As for dining, you can grab a bite at Toadstool Cafe, which is an Italian-American spot featuring Chef Toad!
You can grab dishes like the Piranha Plant Caprese, Mario Burger, Super Star Chicken Salad, and Luigi Burger.
There’s a LOT of fun theming here, too, and if you manage to get a seat by the “windows”, you’ll be able to see the Mushroom Kingdom instead of the rest of the park!
We had to sign up for a return time when we first arrived at Toadstool Cafe, although this might be temporary until opening crowds die down a bit. We ended up having to wait quite a while to get in.
REVIEW: You’ve Never Seen Food Like THIS at a Theme Park!

You’ll find plushes…
…fun accessories…
