Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania just had its second week at the box office.
The film brings back the Avenger for an adventure that has introduced a new villain to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, Ant-Man still isn’t a match for the box office, and it has suffered a dramatic drop during its second week.
Even a fancy popcorn bucket couldn’t get Marvel fans into the theaters for this movie after its premiere. The film is still in first place at the box office after its $106 million opening week. However, according to Variety, it only made $32.2 million in its second week, which is a decrease of 69%!
This now means that Quantumania now has the biggest week-to-week drop in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, beating out Black Widow and Eternals, who previously held that record. However, Ant-Man 3 has still brought in $346 million globally.
By comparison, Universal’s comedy Cocaine Bear (no, we did NOT make that up) is in a close second place this week at the box office — it took in $23 million in its opening weekend. Bad reviews could be responsible for Ant-Man’s drastic drop, but all we’re saying is that this is the first Ant-Man movie that did not have Michael Peña return as Luis… .
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has set up the next phase of the MCU, as well as introduced Marvel’s next big villain Kang, who is greeting guests as a character at Disney California Adventure’s Avengers Campus. There is also a post-credits scene that offers a teaser about the second season of a certain Marvel show on Disney+.
We’ll continue to keep an eye on how Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is doing at the box office and keep you updated on all of Disney’s new Marvel projects, including its shows on Disney+. So stay tuned to DFB for more!
In the meantime, here’s everything coming to Disney+ in March.

I know the DC fans are beside themselves with joy here…but let’s not forget that Ant-Man is a secondary (at best) character in the MCU and that interest in superhero movies in general is declining. It was a fun movie but not exactly revolutionary, so no need for the repeat viewings that inflated the MCU’s numbers for years. Disney really has nothing to be embarrassed about here. Everybody who wanted to see the movie saw it and, as I understand it, most enjoyed it.
