We’re heading into March in Disney World, and there’s a LOT happening!
2023 is going to be a busy year in general, but with changes happening for Genie+, a new restaurant opening, and the start of another EPCOT festival, March is the TIME to be in Disney World. (Unless you really want to avoid the crowds, because you know they’ll be hefty this month for Spring Break!) So if you’re visiting soon, what are the best things to do? Here’s our list!
EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival
To kick it all off, the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival starts on March 1st and runs until July 5th. It’s going to be a spring and summer filled with delicious food, fun activities (like scavenger hunts and butterfly gardens). and stunning floral decorations.
During the festival, you can also check out the Garden Rocks Concert Series to see some awesome live entertainment. And don’t forget to stop by the gift shops to see the new festival merchandise!

Visit Chef Mickey’s
But the return of a festival isn’t the only thing that happens March 1st — that’s also the day that the buffet finally returns to Chef Mickey’s at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. This classic character meal is a popular Disney World staple, but it ahs been serving up food family style for quite some time.
The beginning of March marks the first time that we’ve seen the buffet since the pandemic. We’ll be there to try it out and share our thoughts!

Go to Roundup Rodeo BBQ
Speaking of restaurant news, there’s a really BIG update happening later in the month — Roundup Rodeo BBQ is officially opening in Toy Story Land! The restaurant opens to the public on March 23rd after years of construction and anticipation.
We’ve already had a look at the menu and reservations are already available for those within their 60-day window. We’ll be there opening day to share all the details and a full review!

Celebrate the 50th Anniversary
Multiple things are starting in March, but one major celebration is ending as well. Disney World’s 18-month 50th Anniversary celebration officially ends on March 31st, and we’re expecting some big changes in the parks because of it.
It’s likely that we’ll see 50th Anniversary snacks and entertainment disappear, and the decorations that we’ve seen for soo long will probably be taken down. (Does anyone even remember what the castle looked like pre-50th?!) We’ll make sure to share as things change in the next few weeks.

Say Goodbye to Fireworks Shows
And finally, we have to give a big farewell to two fireworks shows. Disney Enchantment and Harmonious will both have their final performances on April 2nd, so if you’re visiting this month you may want to budget some time to see them.
In their place, Happily Ever After will return to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT Forever will return to EPCOT. EPCOT Forever will only be around for a limited time as the park prepares for a new Disney100 fireworks spectacular.

Those are five of the BIG things you need to do at Disney World in March! It’s going to be a busy month with Spring Break crowds and all these changes, but we’ll share all the news updates throughout. Make sure to stay tuned to see what happens!
