Let’s face it, the perfect Disney vacation comes with several dollar signs.
Here at DFB, we’re always trying out new ways to save at Disney World and then sharing those tricks with you! One of our favorite ways to save some cash is to order groceries for the hotel room rather than eating out every meal. You can save a ton of money by using groceries for breakfast and snacks alone!
We know what you’re thinking. You probably don’t want to waste time grocery shopping while at Disney. Well, you don’t have to! There are so many great options for grocery delivery, and they’ll bring it right to the front desk of your Disney World hotel. Some hotels even have refrigerated lockers so you can keep your groceries cold!
However, we’re on the topic of saving some money, so we’re here to warn you: One of our favorite grocery delivery services, Amazon Fresh, is about to have a significant price increase.
Currently, Amazon Prime members are eligible for free grocery deliveries in Orlando for orders over $35. However, beginning February 28th, 2023, the minimum amount for free grocery delivery will increase to $150.
After the change, delivery charges will range from $3.95 and $9.95 depending on the order amount for those less than $150. The fee tiers are as follows: $3.95 for orders between $100-$150, $6.95 for orders of $50 to $100, and $9.95 for orders under $50. It seems that no matter what, you’ll still be spending more with Amazon Fresh!
So, what can you do instead? There are a couple different options!
Instacart
To use Instacart, you’ll first need to download the app! Instacart is great about breaking down the cost of groceries, delivery fees, and driver tips so that you know where your money is going! Plus, it’s super easy to use.
You can select which grocery story you’d like to use and then add each of the items you wish to purchase. You can also choose the date and time you’d like to receive your groceries! Delivery fees have been $7.99 in the past, and we were able to select from several two-hour delivery windows.

Kroger Grocery Delivery
To use Kroger, you’ll have to download the Kroger app on your phone or use their website! Fill your cart and apply any relevant coupons. There are usually some pretty good deals!
Next, you can request the time and date of delivery and add your notes, telling them where to meet you. We recommend telling them to meet you in the lobby and NOT outside your hotel room.
If you won’t be present, you can have them leave your groceries with the front desk of your hotel — Disney charges $6 for this service. When we checked, the delivery fee was already $9.95, so make sure to be mindful of this as well!

There are still affordable options for your grocery delivery, and we definitely recommend using them! Those Disney dollars add up, and we want you to save as much as you can so that you can use that money toward more fun things like Lightning Lanes, Genie+, or that new merchandise you’ve had your eye on!

So you can use other services, but they also charge a fee so you shouldn’t make it look like Amazon is now the only one charging. Amazon just used to be free for Prime members and now it’s not. It’s just like any other service.
