The chaos of Presidents’ Day Weekend and the runDisney Princess Half Marathon have finally come to an end. This perfect storm of events brought about the very first instance of Genie+ selling out in Disney World — and then it happened again!
Since then, the crowds have dissipated a bit, but with the EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival now here and spring break on its way, does it still make sense to buy Genie+? Let’s find out!
After selling out and reaching record-high prices last week, Genie+ hasn’t appeared to be quite as popular with guests — at least not if we’re measuring by price and demand! After Presidents’ Day, the price went back down to $22 from $29, and that’s where it stayed until the weekend rolled around.
But, all the Individual Lightning Lanes still sold out pretty early in the day on February 21st and 22nd.
On Saturday, February 25th, the price for Genie+ was $20 per ticket, and we didn’t see anything sell out until later in the day when Rise of the Resistance was no longer available.
Genie+ remained at $20 per ticket through the weekend, and as of 9:15AM on Sunday, February 26th, no Individual Lightning Lanes had sold out yet.
It wasn’t until March 3rd that we saw the price rise again to $22 per ticket — and with warmer weather creeping in, we could start to see those prices creep up as well. Not only that, but there were quite a few Lightning Lanes sold out by 3PM including Frozen Ever After, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Test Track, Slinky Dog, and a few meet and greets.
Many schools across the United States are preparing for spring break, and that often brings heavy crowds to the parks.
Since Genie+ is demand-based, the more people Disney anticipates will be in the parks and purchasing the service, the higher the price goes. Now that we’ve seen Genie+ sell out in Disney World and know it’s possible, it’s probably a good idea to purchase it early in the day if you think you might want to use it!
And, since we’re on the hunt for crowd updates, wait times, and Genie+ info, we’ll keep you updated on whether or not you might need it on your next trip — so stay tuned to DFB for more.
