The Hershey Company’s roots date all the way back to 1894, with their first chocolate bar product being sold in 1900. With close to 135 years of chocolate-making history, Hershey’s became responsible for some of the beloved candy we know today
The company has been responsible for the creation or acquisition of Reese’s, York Peppermint Patties, Twizzlers, the classic Hershey’s Kiss, and so many other candies. Yet, they’ve missed out on one big market…that is, until today.
The Hershey Company announced two big NEW products today that begin to corner a market they previously didn’t enter: The dairy-free market. This announcement marks the debut of two vegan products: an almond and sea salt Hershey Bar and plant-based Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups!
The Hershey’s chocolate bar is made with oats instead of dairy and replicates the taste of milk chocolate without using milk. The Hershey bar is set to release nationally in April. The other product, the Reese’s peanut butter cup, is also made with oats.
The plant-based Reese’s cups are expected to release nationally this month and are a part of the company’s efforts to attract more customers with a selection of vegan options.
We’re quite excited about what this may mean for the chocolate market and if other companies could follow suit. Would Mars Wrigley be next? What could that mean for vegan chocolate options at Disney World? Keep following DFB for more updates on all the latest Disney news.
