Disney World is full of unique experiences you just can’t find anywhere else.
One of those experiences opened last year — Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser — and has been transporting guests to a galaxy far, far away ever since. But, it looks like something has changed about voyages on the Starcruiser, and we’re taking a look at what we know.
Disney’s Star Wars hotel is an immersive, two-day, two-night itinerary, meaning that guests arrive and depart in the same time block (similar to a cruise). A wide range of activities and dining experiences in an immersive environment “on a galaxy far, far away” make this an experience like no other!
Since the Star Wars hotel opened, we’ve seen guests rave about their experience, but based on what we’ve seen from the calendar, demand for the Starcruiser has not been what it once was. We’ve also seen the first discounts come available for the hotel — which is pretty darn expensive to begin with.
And now, it looks like Disney has changed the number of voyages available throughout the week. Previously, there were dates all throughout the week for guests to book, but a quick glance at the upcoming calendar shows that voyages have been reduced to just two times per week.
Beginning in October, the calendar shows only two trips available per week — mostly on the weekends. That continues through November and December as well.
While Disney hasn’t made any official announcements about this reduced schedule, we’ll be keeping an eye out for more news or updates on the Galactic Starcruiser. And, if you want to see our experience at the Star Wars hotel, check out some of the links below!

First they need to change the way this hotel works. Allow people to book it for 1 night or 10 nights, just like a traditional hotel.
Second, interaction is great and all, but don’t force the entire thing to be about it. Allow guests to come and go as they please.
Which leads to last change. Lower the price!! Again, make it like staying at a Deluxe Resort. ~$500 per night.

The star cruiser sounds like a lot of work TBH.

This doesn’t surprise me at all. This was a big mistake on Disney’s part. Curious who pushed this idea from the beginning. The wasted money counseling have been used much more wisely on rides or expanded lands.

If they themed it to the original trilogy, I’m pretty sure they’d have a lot more interest.

Maybe Disney can’t charge whatever they want. Maybe they have to be reasonable. There are too many options available for families to choose from for entertainment and accommodations. I believe that Disney+ is also experiencing a push back against all of their woke programming. They are sucking wind. My advice would be to think about those companies that were invincible… Sears, K-Mart, etc. My, how the mighty have fallen. This is a saying for a reason.

I was just on the site today and they had 3/4 “voyages” per week March – May, with some voyages unavailable, which I assume means they are booked.

Well, it makes cents (intended) to not run when a large portion of the potential visiting population is not available. Now let’s work on getting some discounts for Disney+ Subscribers and airport shuttle transportation!

@Matt
That’s sort of the point, it’s really not a hotel. The experience is supposed to be just like a cruise, which you can not book for one night then get off. You’re “on-board” the whole time. It is meant to be immersive.
Fully agree they need to lower the price. Considering the cruise includes a port-of-call (free day in a park) and food. A $500/night hotel for two with one park pass each and breakfast/dinner buffets would run you about $1500 vs the $4800 they advertise. Even if we consider the time you spend on the ship as entertainment that would only be equivalent to another day in the park adding an additional ~$200.
So, yea…they need to reduce the price.

I never had much faith in this experience…sounds good, may look good on paper, but in reality, not destine to be a big hit. Would not wast my money….

Exactly what Kate said, I love star wars but I don’t want to spend $6000 to go on a larping adventure it just isn’t my thing. Change it to a standard deluxe hotel experience (and price) with staff in character and you might get more people wanting to stay there

Went there last summer and I loved it, even though I am not close to being a mega Star Wars fan like the rest of my family. You need to think of it like a cruise instead of a hotel. The break in days are good for the staff and less stressful since they needed to get one set of guests out and other new set in within a few hours. I would think time off between visits would help with maintenance as well. There are lots of moving parts to keep going 😉
RickTR says
How long did they really think this would last at that price? Once the rich experience it once, they’re gone. And offering it to cast members at 50% discount when many of them are forced to sleep in their cars is insulting.
Lisa says
IMHO they should have the all-inclusive experience run Mon-Wed. And use the other 4 days Thurs-Sun for themed catered events, weddings, parties, birthdays, whatever and only guests of those parties can stay during those events. As someone who used to work in hospitality, that’s where their money is.
