Did you know Disney has a secret shopping center in Orlando, but it’s NOT at Disney World?
That shopping center is Flamingo Crossings in Winter Garden, which Disney has BIG plans for. The area will contain hotels, stores, and restaurants. Retailers and restaurants continue to sign up to move into the area, including Target, Starbucks, Five Below, and more. Now, a new RESTAURANT is on the way.
According to The Orlando Sentinel, Nick Valenti, the former CEO of Patina Restaurant Group and Restaurant Associates (which manages several Disney World and Disneyland restaurants), will be opening a new Italian Eatery at Flamingo Crossings.
The restaurant, Simply Capri, will offer a variety of pizzas, as well as fish and pasta dishes. He said, “We want to sort of provide our guests with a brief visit to the Amalfi Coast. That’s the objective both in terms of the style of the restaurant, the style and quality of the food. It’s meant to be relaxed. It’s not rushed.”
Simply Capri will be about 3,500 square feet, but will also include another 1,000 to 1,200 square feet for outdoor seating. The restaurant will also have an outdoor bar. Valenti also has plans to open another restaurant across the street in the future, continuing his relationship with Disney. That restaurant, Flatlands Bar and Grill, could open by the end of the year.
The Flamingo Crossings project is an ongoing one with Disney that will eventually have loads of new hotels, dining, and shopping in the area. It’s also conveniently located near Flamingo Crossings Village, a housing complex Disney recently opened for Disney College Program participants.
