One of the most unpredictable things at Disney World is the weather. It can be cold, hot, and stormy, or there can even be hurricane-related weather.
Weather can often affect everything in the parks, from parades to fireworks to rides. It can also affect the water parks. Today is calling for some chilly temperatures in Orlando, so that means a water park that was scheduled to reopen today, has, in fact, not reopened.
Typhoon Lagoon closed for refurbishment last year but was set to reopen today, March 19th. However, when we checked the My Disney Experience app, the water park was showing as closed today.
We chatted with a Cast Member online who confirmed that Typhoon Lagoon would remain closed today due to the chillier weather in the area (this morning was in the low 50s!). The water parks do generally close when there’s a potential for cold or bad weather.
Blizzard Beach also closed today for a refurbishment, so neither water park will be open today in Disney World. The water park had a refurbishment fairly recently and reopened, but it seems like Disney might have more plans for it. It recently got a few Frozen-themed areas, so we have to wonder if we’ll see even more Anna and Elsa at the water park.
When we looked at the hours for Typhoon Lagoon for tomorrow, March 20th, we also noticed no hours were listed. However we did see hours for Tuesday, March 21st, which we assume will be the water park’s new reopening date.
Looks like we’ll have to wait a few more days to be reunited with our beloved Hei Hei Cone and all the NEW snacks that are set to come to the water park. If you want to visit Typhoon Lagoon, keep checking the Disney World app for the most updated hours, and we’ll be sure to let you know when the water park has reopened!
