You’ve planned it all right down to the rides, the snacks, and of course your advanced dining reservations, but have you stopped to consider what else could be missing?
With so much to keep up with for your next Disney World trip, who has time to keep up with everything that could go “bump” while you’re enjoying your vacation? That’s why we’re here! We’ve lined up a list of possible mistakes that YOU could make on your trip to Disney World in April.
We’re breaking down the MAJOR mistakes you could be making on your April Disney World trip:
1- “I thought April Was Lower In Crowds”
It sounds like you’ve done your homework on anticipating crowds and you’ve probably avoided March for that very reason, but a lot of people don’t stop to consider April crowds.
With Easter falling in April this year, Spring Break season continues. So, you still want to have the right expectations going into this visit.
It’s likely that the increased crowd levels will continue as Disney World is a popular destination for those looking to add a little magic to their holiday, and rightly so with so much to do around the parks.
And just like with March, it’s going to be important to tailor your expectations to potentially crowded parks with longer wait times (this is where Genie+ may come in useful to you), and crowded walkways.
Here’s our best recommendation: If you’re looking to take advantage of Genie+ and use it to its full potential, it might save you some time if you’re buying it early. Keep in mind that buying Genie+ later in the day may not help as much, as many Lightning Lane slots may also be full. Have a plan of what your absolute must-do rides, attractions, and character meet and greets will be each day, and go after those first. If you get around to doing more than what you anticipated, then we consider that a huge bonus!

2- April Showers Bring May Flowers
If you didn’t already have ponchos or umbrellas on your packing list, you’ll want to add them right now!

This is Florida and we know the weather can be unpredictable! Orlando is notorious for those fast and furious sudden rain showers that typically subside in a matter of minutes to hours but it definitely could put a damper on your day — and your footwear — if you’re not anticipating it.

3- What You Wear Matters!
While we’re on that subject, it’s important to pack the right kinds of shoes for when you’ll be visiting the parks.
A mistake we’ve seen folks make too many times over is that they bring brand new shoes that haven’t been worn or broken in yet. If you combine brand-new shoes with some grumpy weather and mix in miles of walking each day, you’ll probably be lacking in having your best Disney day.

4- Missing The Last Enchantment & Harmonious Fireworks?
Disney World’s most magical celebration celebrating its 50th anniversary is winding down mostly at the end of March however, for just a few more days in very early April you’ll still catch the last few showings of Disney’s Enchantment fireworks spectacular at Magic Kingdom.
If this is the show you’re looking to see, make sure your plans align and know that the last performance will take place on April 2nd, 2023.
Additionally, Harmonious at EPCOT will be retiring after its last performance on April 2nd, 2023. Both of the 50th anniversary nighttime spectaculars will be replaced the following night by other shows, so you won’t be without a nighttime show for the remainder of your visit if your trip falls within this week.

5- Expect BIG Crowds For This Return!
This is a return Disney World fans have been counting down for quite some time, and while we’re sad to see Enchantment leave, the return of a fan-favorite Happily Ever After is exactly what will draw the big crowds!
Happily Ever After will be returning to Magic Kingdom park on April 3rd, 2023 following the 18-month long run of Disney’s Enchantment fireworks show. This show previously ran before Enchantment took its place for the Disney World 5oth celebration and now fans are ready to greet it once again with brand-new projections down Main Street USA added to the previous Castle-only projections.
If you’re a fan of this one, you’ll want to pick out your fireworks viewing spot (probably) hours ahead of time, so line up your park plans accordingly. On the other hand if this is not something totally of interest to you we offer this alternative option: Take advantage of the time before and during the fireworks to ride the attractions and meet with evening characters — you can really get a lot done during this time as most people will be watching fireworks.

6- Your Park Admission Won’t Be ENOUGH To Ride TRON Lightcycle / Run!
April is a BIG month for Disney World with lots of familiar returns but also we’re really excited for something new!
TRON Lightcycle / Run will officially open on April 4th, 2023 to everyone in the parks. Up to this point from March 2oth, Annual Passholders were able to take advantage of a soft opening for this attraction. We’re hoping that will help with opening day crowds but from the looks of how that’s been going so far, we’re pretty sure they will sell out quickly!
If this ride is on your must-do list here’s what you need to know: you will ONLY be able to get on this ride with either a virtual queue or by purchasing an individual lightning lane.
If you’re not sure how to secure a virtual queue then check out our guide here that will walk you through the process. If you’re looking for the paid individual lightning lane option ,Walt Disney World resort guests will be able to purchase before the park hours and visiting day guests will be able to purchase at park opening hours (if there are any left). Our best recommendation is to try for the virtual queue if you’re not staying at a Disney World resort. We’ve seen the paid individual lightning lanes sell out in minutes, but you’ll also need to be very speedy at grabbing that virtual queue, because those have sold out in under a second in their first soft opening days!
