If you’ve followed us for a little while, or if you’ve recently visited Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, you probably know about the HUGE construction project going on there.
The project involves building some brand new Disney Vacation Club (DVC) villas, and it’s caused a bit of chaos when it comes to traveling around the hotel. Previously, if you wanted to get to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort on foot, you’d have to walk across a busy street, which can be a little scary. Well, now a NEW walkway between the resorts is available.Â
We tried the new walkway recently from the Grand Floridian to Polynesian Village Resort. All you have to do is look for the signs directing you where to go.
The walkway takes you along part of the Monorail route, so you can see it whizzing by occasionally.
From there, you just continue to follow the signs.
The next part of the walk is a little less scenic. You’ll see construction scrims on one side.
Again, there is plenty of signage to point you in the right direction, no matter which resort you’re coming from.
You’ll eventually pass under the Monorail track and see some “fake” scenery covering construction walls. Okay, Disney, we’ll give you a B+ for effort there.
You’ll eventually arrive at the edge of the Polynesian Village Resort, where the scenery gets a LOT better. This really is a gorgeous resort.
At the Polynesian Village Resort, you’ll find signs that direct you to the new walkway to the Grand Floridian.
You might wonder why you’d make this walk at all, but it is a pretty quick way to get between the two resorts, especially if you don’t want to bother with the Monorail — or if the Monorail is temporarily closed. Both resorts have great dining options and scenery, so you’ll definitely want to check them out while you’re at Disney World! It’s also a nice path to just take a moment to enjoy some scenery (even if some of it is fake) and get away from people for a bit.
So keep that in mind if you plan on staying at either of those resorts — they are connected with this new walkway and it’s always an option if you want to travel between the two.

Unfortunately, a “victim” of the construction projects will be the beloved walkway from the Shades of Green hotel to the Polynesian.
