Disney World will always be a work in progress — and that means that there will almost always be some kind of construction going on there.
EPCOT is still undergoing a HUGE transformation, new restaurants are on the way, new rides are being constructed, and MORE. Over at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, new Disney Vacation Club (DVC) villas are being built and we have a HUGE update about the work we’ve seen over the past month.
When we last shared a look at the villas, we were just starting to see a building going up. Well, Disney has continued construction on that building.
A LOT more of that building, in fact, is now up. It seems to be growing sideways.
Here’s an even closer look at the building as construction continues on it.
They’ve also been laying some pipes down on the construction site.
There is a TON of equipment on site from trucks to cranes to cement pourers. There is still a LOT to be done, but we’re actually starting to see the new villas take shape. It really seems like construction has ramped up this month.
Disney has not yet shared an end date for the construction or when the new DVC villas might be open, but while construction is going on, you’ll need to know a few things. First, Polynesian Village Resort guests will see and hear construction during certain times of the day, but no earlier than 9AM.
The construction has also changed some of the walkways around the resort. The walkway between the Polynesian and Magic Kingdom is currently closed. Disney will soon close the walkway between the Polynesian and Shades of Green. There’s also a NEW walkway between the Polynesian and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort.
If you do have a stay planned at the Polynesian, just keep these things in mind. We’ll also continue to keep you updated on the construction progress of the DVC villas, so stay tuned to DFB for more.

I would sure hope they don’t use those rooms next to the construction site. You pay enough to stay at that resort; to have to be surrounded by mud and equipment, noise and ugly views for the same price as before…no thank you.

There never should have been a structure on the Polynesian property that is taller than the Grand Ceremonial House. That should be the focal point of the property, not a new building that will be too generic.
