In case you missed it, the barges used for EPCOT’s Harmonious show are currently in the process of being removed, as that fireworks show was replaced by EPCOT Forever. So far, only one has been removed — the one closest to the Italy Pavilion. But… what happens to the barges once they’re removed? Where do they take them? Well, we found part of our answer!
Bioreconstruct on Twitter shared an image of the barge, which Disney appears to be in the process of deconstructing backstage. Check it out!

Cast Members took the barge to EPCOT’s backstage marina, where it was separated into four parts. Wow! Looking at it deconstructed from above just shows in a new way how massive these barges are.
Disney hasn’t clarified if these barges are gone forever or if it’s possible that they’ll return for future shows. With the barge being taken apart carefully, it seems likely that EPCOT is at least keeping the barges in storage somewhere.
They look even bigger when they’re not in the water!
Based on the photo, it’s possible that they’re taking the barges down one at a time because one barge takes up such a great portion of the backstage marina. It’s likely that more of the barges (there are still four in the World Showcase Lagoon right now) will disappear slowly over the coming weeks.
Only three remain!

This was Bob Chapek’s baby. He threw alot of Disney money at it, and raised prices on everything and put a price on things that were complimentary prior to his reign. They could have kept it if it had the capacity to move over to the side during the day.
The Barges were awful looking in my opinion. The lake is beautiful and the first thing u saw were these huge black barges. It will be nice if boat transports can drop off near Italy again. I really hope they will go there again
