The Walt Disney Company has undergone some significant changes recently. There have been some big shakeups within the company, namely the abrupt removal of CEO Bob Chapek, followed by the reinstatement of Bob Iger (a Bob for a Bob if you will).
The world has been watching The Walt Disney Company closely lately, including those at TIME Magazine. Recently, TIME released its annual TIME100 list, which names the world’s most influential people, and one of the Disney Bobs made the list (and the front cover — fancy!).
The 2023 TIME100 list featured several big names in the entertainment industry, including Austin Butler, Doja Cat, and Michael B. Jordan. Several politicians made the list as well, like Joe Biden and Mitch McConnell. The list was filled with actors, musicians, writers, and more, but check out one of the people that was featured on the cover…
…it’s Bob Iger! General Motors CEO and Disney board member Mary Barra honored Iger with a feature article in the magazine. In the article, Iger discussed some of Disney’s biggest criticisms, the ongoing political battle with Florida’s governor, and his idols. He had a lot to say!
The TIMES article also discussed Iger’s legacy, with Barra writing, “Bob Iger has guided the company to success for nearly two decades and is one of the best leaders I know.” From the return of the Magic Kingdom’s Happily Ever After fireworks show to the new Annual Passholder benefits, it seems like The Walt Disney Company has been focusing on guest satisfaction lately.
One important note to keep in mind is that Bob Iger was brought back only as a temporary CEO. Many are already speculating on who could fill his shoes, with names like Kevin Mayer (former Disney executive), Alan Bergman, and Dana Walden (current co-leaders of Disney Entertainment) being tossed around.
Clearly, Bob Iger is a highly regarded CEO, and now he’s got the TIME Magazine recognition to prove it! In the meantime, stick around for more Disney news and theme park updates.
