When it comes to planning a trip to Disney World, there are many factors you need to consider!
Not only do you have to figure out dates that work for you and your group’s schedule, but then you have to buy tickets, make Park Pass Reservations, decide if you want Genie+, book a hotel, and create dining reservations. On top of all that, there are some things that will be different at Disney World in February. Let’s jump in and see what changes are hitting the resort!
100th Anniversary Comes to Disney World with Themed Months
Now that the 50th anniversary has come to an end, the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company is making its way to Disney World. There is already 100th anniversary decor out in the parks and Disney recently announced what we can expect from the celebrations.
Each month, there will be different Disney stories to celebrate. For May, “All things from a galaxy far, far away will be featured with an emphasis on Star Wars”. This makes sense considering May the 4th is one of the biggest days for Star Wars fans, so you can celebrate Star Wars ALL month long!
At this time, Disney has not announced any special treats or experiences for the month of May, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated!

Fantasmic! Closure
There are many fabulous entertainment options in Disney’s Hollywood Studios including Beauty and the Beast — Live on Stage and Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular. But many people’s days are not complete without watching the nighttime spectacular Fantasmic!
Unfortunately, this show will be closed for a quick refurbishment — if you were hoping to watch the show on May 1st or May 2nd, there will not be any showtimes on those days. Luckily this closure won’t last long, but it will certainly impact your plans on those first two days of May!
ALERT. Temporary CLOSURE Announced for Fantasmic! in Disney World
A Popular Character Breakfast Returns
Character dining is a super popular dining option for many in Disney World! And in May, one character dining spot is bringing back its breakfast and lunch — it’s Akershus Royal Banquet Hall!
Located in the Norway pavilion in EPCOT, this restaurant is known for its Disney Princess character meals. We covered the reopening back in November 2022, but dinner was the only meal that returned at the time. Now we have a full menu and pricing for the breakfast option that officially returns on May 14th, 2023!

Speaking of Moonlight Magic, Typhoon Lagoon is also hosting an event for DVC Members in May! Moonlight Magic at the water park will take place on May 23rd and later this year on August 25th, 2023. Early registration opens on April 26th to eligible DVC Members and general registration opens on May 11th for the May 23rd event!
Typhoon Lagoon is a busy place in May because the water park is also bringing back its H2O Glow Nites! This is a separately ticketed After Hours event on select nights this summer starting May 20th. Learn more about the event and the dates here!
