BIG NEWS has been released about Disney’s 2023 Halloween party!
Last year, Disney brought back the beloved Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (after it was replaced in 2021 by Boo Bash), and we covered the whole event, from the snacks to the entertainment and everything in between. Since things in Disney change so often, many people have been wondering whether Mickey’s Not-So-Scary would return in 2023, and if it does. WHEN the party would take place. Now, we have our answers!
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is officially returning for 2023! The 2023 event will take place from August 11th through November 1st. Disney announced that tickets for the event will go on sale SOON, on May 2nd.
Some people will be able to buy tickets EARLY — Guests of select Walt Disney World Resort hotels can purchase these special event tickets beginning April 27th, 2023!
Here’s a look at all of the event dates and ticket prices:
If you’re new to the Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party scene or if you want a quick refresher on this event, let’s take a look at some of the highlights from previous parties.
Disney has confirmed that a lot of the popular entertainment from years past will be returning in 2023, including the Boo-to-You parade, fireworks, and trick-or-treating,
First, it’s important to note that this party is a separately ticketed event, so you must have a specific Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party ticket in order to get in. A regular Magic Kingdom park ticket will NOT get you entry to this event. With an event ticket, you can get inside Magic Kingdom a few hours before the party begins (at 4PM), but if you want to be in Magic Kingdom all day and then go to the party that night, you’ll need both a Magic Kingdom park ticket and a party ticket.
The party takes place from 7PM to midnight, with guests able to enter the park at 4PM. It doesn’t happen every night — only select nights between August 11th and November 1st will have the party.
The party includes trick-or-treating around Magic Kingdom (with Cast Members handing out free candy), seasonal treats and merchandise throughout the park, and a special fireworks show towards the end of the evening.
You’re welcome to come dressed in a costume for the event, and the Boo-To-You Parade is an absolute must-see (the Headless Horseman that kicks off the parade is amazing).
In 2022, there was a Hocus Pocus-themed show on the Cinderella Castle stage, and Jack Skellington hosts the Not-So-Spooky Spectacular fireworks show. Lots of Disney characters attend the event, and many of them come dressed in their Halloween costumes!
One of the best parts about this party, though, is that you can get on lots of rides and attractions with a lower wait time than you’d usually see. Most rides stayed open for the party in 2022, including some fan-favorites like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Space Mountain (which had a Halloween-themed layover!). Be sure to stop by Haunted Mansion, where unique characters can often be spotted talking with guests in the queue.
You might be wondering “What about TRON Lightcycle / Run?” This coaster opened in April of this year, so it was not available for the Halloween party last year. This attraction WILL be part of the party this year. Disney’s website says that TRON Lightcycle / Run will be open with Virtual Queue Access Only. The site recommends that visitors “check back for information on how to join the virtual queue for TRON Lightcycle / Run presented by Enterprise during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.”
We’re so excited to hear this news and are already planning our Halloween costumes! This is a popular event, so we recommend getting your tickets ASAP, especially if you want to go around Halloween time (the dates closest to Halloween tend to sell out first). Last year, the event sold out completely by mid-September.

Could you advise where on the Disney World site we go to purchase the Party tickets. This is one of the main events we want to do for our 50th Anniversary with our family. We already have our hotel room so I think we can get tickets early. Your help is much appreciated.

Hi! Big Fan, first of all! I really appreciate all the information and updates you all provide. We are taking our Disney honeymoon trip in mid-October 2023 (we planned on going in 2020, and then the world shut down, so this honeymoon is three years in the making!!!! We already have our Disney resort reservations and park reservations, and Sapphire Springs reservations for a few days at Universal, along with their HHN tickets). My husband and I will go to Mickey’s No So Scary Halloween party and buy tickets next week when they go on sale.
** My question is: Last year, during Mickey’s NSSHP, were “After Hours” events still going on their designated days in mid-October 2022? ***
We live in New Mexico and only go to WDW every 10 to 15 years, AND this is our long-awaited honeymoon, so we plan to go big, ya know? We arrive Tuesday evening (Oct 17th) at the Boardwalk Villa (aware of the ongoing construction, but I don’t care, I love the location) and am hoping the “Extended evening hours” will be offered for MK on Weds Oct 18th (if so, we will go). We have already purchased 3-day park hopper passes. We plan to buy Mickey’s NSSHP for Thurs, Oct 19th (even though we have park hopper passes that day already, we have never attended, so we are going and paying the extra cost); **however**, if Epcot offers After Hours on that Thursday (10.19), I would rather pay for the after hours for that day, and then buy tickets for Mickey’s NSSHP for that Friday instead (even though it costs a little more). So, that is why I’m asking if the “After Hours” events were offered in mid-October of 2022?
