It’s been a wild time for annual passes lately.
Yesterday, April 20th, all Disney World Annual Passes went back on sale and it was…well, a bit of a mess. For over a year, three out of the four pass types were unavailable for new purchases, so tons of people were looking to get their hands on one yesterday. The website struggled to handle all of the demand, and some people had to wait HOURS in the online queue before they could buy a pass. Eventually, Disney paused the process overnight — but sales resumed this morning. And we were shocked to see the changes.
When Pass sales resumed yesterday, guests trying to buy one had to enter the online queue. While some were lucky and got a wait time of 30 minutes or less, a lot of folks were quoted at more than an hour — and some waited upwards of seven hours (or more) before they had a chance to buy one. The phone lines weren’t any better either — after over a hundred phone calls to the Annual Pass line, we still weren’t able to get through to Disney that way at all.
This morning, when pass sales resumed after being temporarily paused overnight, things looked very different. Multiple people on our team got an initial wait time of around 10 minutes. What a change!
The site didn’t seem to be struggling this morning at all, so if you couldn’t grab one yesterday — today might be your day! Disney did still make sure to state the warning that passes could become unavailable today, so make sure you head over to the site soon if you are hoping to get one.
No pass tiers have sold out yet, but we’ll keep you updated as things progress. Stay tuned to DFB for more!

Friday I got on the site about 1 and missed my window at 7:03 because I was having dinner. Saturday, I went to the generic site, put an order in my basket, paid for it, with Reward points, and I was done. Easy

I was on the Galactic Starcruiser when the 1st day of annual pass holder tickets went on sale and the 2nd day was our embarkation day for the Wish, so I was stressing about the purchase… after refreshing the page every minute from 5:45am to 7:15 am, I talked to guest services and they said they’d call me when the site went up. While in Galaxy’s Edge for our expedition to Battu, I happened to notice that I was able to get into the queue around 9:45am…. I was finally able to purchase my ticket at 6:45pm, but the transportation to Hollywood Studios was already closed for the evening. Since we were getting Mears transportation back to the Beach Club to meet up with the rest of the family to get picked up by DCL by 8:45, I hoofed on over to the International Gateway will call desk at 7:45am to get the physical pass. It was a crazy adventure, but then guest services told me that none of my reservations would retroactively apply…. My thought was I would have purchased it if it had been available prior to making the reservations. Between the week at the Beach Club, the Galactic Starcruiser, and the Wish, we spent more than $18,000 with no discounts. So frustrated that no one was willing to help find any discounts as a D23 member, Disney Visa cardholder, and original Disney plus subscriber.
