It takes a LOT for viewers to commit to a TV show, especially on streaming services.

Let’s face it, a lot of shows never make the cut and end up getting canceled. That includes Disney+, where we’ve recently seen several shows get the axe, including Big Shot, The Mysterious Benedict Society, and more. Well, ANOTHER Disney+ series will be ending after just one season.
According to Variety, Disney+ has decided NOT to go forward with a second season of National Treasure: Edge of History. The series was a sequel to the popular National Treasure movies and followed a young woman, Jess, as she learns about her family history and a mysterious treasure they were protecting.

The series starred Lisette Olivera, Zuri Reed, Antonio Cipriano, Jordan Rodrigues, Jake Austin Walker, and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Although the season 1 finale did wrap up the initial storyline of the series, it did leave room for a few new plot details that might have been pursued in further seasons.

Although the star of the National Treasure movies, Nicolas Cage, never appeared in the series, he was mentioned briefly in a few episodes. However, Armando Riesco reprised his movie role in the series as FBI Agent Hendricks. Harvey Keitel also reprised his National Treasure movie role as Peter Sadusky.

My wife, my daughter, and I really liked this National Treasure series. We watched it weekly. It had a slow start but was quite intriguing as the series progressed. We were really hoping for another National Treasure adventure. Why does Disney cancel the good shows and keep the junk? Boba Fette was horrible, as was Andor, Obi Wan Kanobi, etc. I just wish that Bob Iger would hire better people with a better sense of entertainment.
As an aside, I hope that Walt Disney World destroys Ron DeSantis political career. I have no idea why anybody who has humanity would want a Hitler-like person in authority. His vendetta against Disney for a free speech comment is so anti U. S. Constitution.
