Australian actor and comedian Barry Humphries passed away.
The New York Times reported on April 22nd that Humphries passed away in Sydney at the age of 89. He was being treated in a hospital for a health issue for several days prior to his passing.
In a tribute posted to Twitter, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called Humphries “a great wit, satirist, writer and an absolute one-of-kind.”
For 89 years, Barry Humphries entertained us through a galaxy of personas, from Dame Edna to Sandy Stone.
But the brightest star in that galaxy was always Barry.
A great wit, satirist, writer and an absolute one-of-kind, he was both gifted and a gift.
May he rest in peace. pic.twitter.com/oSAKpxPGae
