Have you been playing with the idea of going to Disney World? Do you find yourself daydreaming about cheeseburger spring rolls and Mickey pretzels? Have you been looking for an excuse to splurge on a Disney vacation? Maybe THIS is your sign.
Recently, Disney started selling its Annual Passes again, essentially giving guests unlimited access to the Disney World parks for one year (subject to blockout dates). If you visit Disney World more than once a year, you might want to consider investing in an Annual Pass, and if you’ve been on the fence since passes went back on sale, you might want to hear this.
When Annual Passes first went on sale on April 20th, the virtual queue to enter the website was HOURS long. This prompted Disney to publish a message that same day that informed customers Annual Passes could become unavailable (a.k.a. sell out). For a moment, it seemed like Annual Passes could be gone just as quickly as they came back.
Interestingly, though, Disney’s warning that passes would sell out on April 20th didn’t come true. By April 22nd, the virtual queue to enter the Disney World Annual Pass purchase page was gone, and all Annual Pass types were still available days later.
Fast-forward to April 29th and ALL Annual Passes are still available. There is still no virtual queue to enter the website, and customers have access to four different types of Annual Passes, which vary in price and park pass reservation availability.
Keep in mind that the Sorcerer, Pirate, and Pixie Dust Passes are only available for Florida residents, and the price varies based on blockout dates and park pass reservation availability.
You may be thinking to yourself, “This is great! Annual Passes are back and still available a week later — I’ve got plenty of time to buy a pass.” But let’s look back at what happened when Disney started selling Annual Passes again in 2021. It’s been a while, so we’re here to refresh your memory.
Let’s take it back to a few years ago. On September 8th, 2021, Disney started selling all four types of Annual Passes. Availability was limited, and guests anxiously waited in a virtual queue on September 8th. Sound familiar?
Well, Disney managed to keep its Annual Pass availability open for a short while — until the company paused sales of the Pirate, Sorcerer, and IncrediPass on November 21st, 2021. Then, between November 22nd, 2021, and April 20th, 2023, only the Pixie Dust Pass was available for Florida residents.
History has proven that Disney can be unpredictable, so you never know when Annual Pass sales could be put on pause (or how long that pause could last). If you’re thinking about buying an Annual Pass this year, you might want to hop on the website and purchase those passes sooner rather than later.
Just like in 2021, Disney made it clear that availability is limited, so when passes sell out, it could be a while until they’re back on the market; you just never know!
In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
