If you want to get on Magic Kingdom‘s newest ride, TRON Lightcycle/Run, you are going to want to read this.
TRON Lightcycle/Run opened in April and has been very popular. There are only two ways to ride it — Purchasing an Individual Lightning Lane or Joining the Virtual Queue. If you are planning on joining the virtual queue, you will need to move fast because the groups fill up seconds after it opens at 7AM. If you aren’t lucky enough to grab one then, the queue does reopen at 1PM for anyone currently inside the park, and we have seen this virtual queue window stay open a bit longer.
However, if you are park hopping to Magic Kingdom, you wouldn’t be in the park at 1PM to get the virual queue. Or if it’s a busy day and you miss the first two windows, you COULD have one more chance!
If you are staying at a Disney Deluxe Resort, you could have Extended Evening Hours at Magic Kingdom. Extended Evening Hours are on select nights where the park stays open later for guests staying at a Deluxe Hotel at Disney World. This perk was recently extended through 2024.
During these select nights, there is a third virtual queue that will open that day at 6PM for Deluxe Resort guests only! This virtual queue will allow guests the chance to ride TRON at night, during the event.
If you are not staying at a Deluxe Resort, there is one other way you can join this special virtual queue at 6PM. During After Hours Events at Magic Kingdom, TRON will have a virtual queue to give guests the chance to ride during the event. An After Hours Event is a separately ticketed event where guests can enjoy the parks with low wait times and also enjoy complimentary snacks.
Tickets for After Hours typically range from $129 to $159 per person. Disney World Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members are eligible for discounts. While this event has ended for the season, Disney recommends checking back later for details about future events.
If you aren’t able to make it to either of these special events, TRON will also operate on a virtual queue during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party this fall. Those tickets are currently on sale. For more Disney parks tips and tricks, be sure to subscribe to our newsletter at DFB.
