Sometimes emergencies happen in Disney World that require a little bit more than a bandaid or some Advil.
This is where AdventHealth comes in. Back in 2021, Disney announced that AdventHealth would be the official healthcare provider of Disney World. They can provide you with virtual healthcare from your hotel room, which can be really convenient for any non-urgent matters. But now, if you do happen to need the services of a full emergency room, soon there will be a convenient spot right near Disney World where you can go.
Back in 2021, AdventHealth announced that it would be opening a NEW emergency room near Disney World, in the Flamingo Crossings area. And now, the opening of that emergency room is getting closer.
AdventHealth hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new emergency room at Flamingo Crossings recently. It is set to bring “trusted emergency care and a first-of-its-kind patient experience for Central Florida visitors and community members, including Walt Disney World Resort guests and cast members.”
To celebrate the ribbon-cutting, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse even participated in the ceremony.
Randy Haffner, CEO of AdventHealth Florida, shared “We are pleased to celebrate the grand opening of this unique and innovative facility, which will provide convenient, whole-person care for Central Floridians and visitors alike. He continued, “We are combining AdventHealth’s clinical expertise and Disney-inspired designs to provide exceptional care within a calming environment. We want to provide this option so visitors can get the care they need with minimal disruption to their plans and enjoy the trip of a lifetime.”
The emergency room will be staffed by a clinical team that includes board-certified emergency physicians and nurses. Plus, the design of this space will be unique since it has “Key West-influenced architecture and Disney-inspired touches and familiar characters from The Little Mermaid, Moana, and the Finding Nemo film series to enhance the patient experience.”
Colors, sounds, and lights are all being used to help patients feel at ease and each patient room has a media screen with “custom Disney animated content.” There are 24 private patient rooms, space for respiratory therapy, diagnostic imaging including CT scans, X-ray and ultrasound, and a full-service laboratory.
If you’re wondering just when to visit the ER, see AdventHealth’s guide below.
The ER facility at Flamingo Crossings will open to the public later this month.
If you’re planning a trip to Disney World, don’t forget that AdventHealth also has some tools you can use before and during your trips thanks to their partnership with Disney and what they’ve called “the AdventHealth World of Wellness.” You can read more about that here.

Three trips ago, I got really sick while there. I ended up using the concierge service which was really expensive. I needed more help than I got to salvage the trip, but they did the best they could with what they had. This service should make things a lot better and easier for people. This is a good thing.
