We got some MASSIVE Disney World news yesterday.
Disney’s Star Wars hotel, the Galactic Starcruiser has offered guests a unique opportunity to LIVE for two days in a galaxy far, far, away for a little over a year now. The experience offered visitors unique dining, roleplaying experiences that put them in their own Star Wars story, lightsaber training, and excursions to Batuu. However, the Galactic Starcruiser will shut its doors forever on September 30th.
A Disney spokesperson released a statement about the hotel’s closure: “Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is one of our most creative projects ever and has been praised by our guests and recognized for setting a new bar for innovation and immersive entertainment. This premium, boutique experience gave us the opportunity to try new things on a smaller scale of 100 rooms, and as we prepare for its final voyage, we will take what we’ve learned to create future experiences that can reach more of our guests and fans.”
That final voyage will be on September 28th-30th, 2023. However, bookings are temporarily being paused while Disney contacts those who had bookings after those dates through the end of the year. Bookings will reopen on May 26th. However, it’s unlikely that any discounts will be released for any voyages through the hotel’s closure.
UPDATE: When bookings resume on May 26, discounts are not expected to be offered for the remaining dates. Guests who were booked on voyages after Sept. 30 will have the opportunity to move to an earlier voyage at a discount up to 50% off. pic.twitter.com/1B6NFKdyEr

However, anyone who had a booking AFTER September 30th will have the option to rebook their voyage to an earlier date before the hotel closes — and get 50% off in the process. So if you’ve booked a later voyage on the Galactic Starcruiser, you actually have a chance to save money on the experience.
Disney has not yet shared details about what might happen to the building inhabited by the Galactic Starcruiser in the future. But the company has stated that it wants to take the lessons it learned from the interactive experience to integrate into future experiences.
The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser opened in March 2022 and offered a two-day one-of-a-kind interactive Star Wars experience on the starship Halcyon. Each scenario onboard plays out differently depending on the decisions made by its visitors. It combined immersive theater elements that brought visitors in to become part of the story (if they chose to) and included special effects that included Disney’s first “real” working lightsaber.
The Galactic Starcruiser also featured unique dining experiences, including food that truly was “out-of-this-world” (including blue shrimp).
If you’re wanting to book a voyage on the Halcyon before it closes, keep in mind that a trip on the Starcruiser is not cheap. Voyages start at around $1200 per guest per night for two guests in a cabin. We have previously seen discounts for Annual Passholders and Disney Visa Cardmembers, but don’t expect to see any discounts released for trips between now and the hotel’s closing.
We’ll continue to keep an eye on ALL Disney World news, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for more.

Just a little too far int) the future. This is a step towards who knows what. What Disney found out was that the. Market is just not yet ready for longer duration full an immersive experience. We tend to enjoy our thrill zones in shorter experiences. 20 minutes at a time to be thrilled and immersed, then we are back to reality.
