If Pixar Pier is one of your favorite places in Disney California Adventure, imagine staying in a HOTEL with even more colorful Pixar theming. Well, it’s your lucky day, because such a place is coming SOON to Disneyland Resort! Oh, Disney, you sure know how to reel us back in for another vacation.
This winter, the Pixar Place Hotel is set to open. Uh-oh, that doesn’t give us much time to start a new staycation fund! The hotel will feature a reimagined Pixar theme that “weaves the artistry of Pixar into its comfortable, contemporary setting.” So far, we’ve seen some exciting concept art, and now Disney revealed even MORE information about the hotel. Let’s take a look!
Disney’s early concept art and previews show “a new perspective on some of [your] favorite Pixar worlds and characters.” That sounds promising, but we’re visual people, so we’re gonna need some pictures to look at.
The transformation of Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel to Pixar Place Hotel is underway, and we’re bringing you along for the journey! Check out some of what’s in the works here: https://t.co/JialWLmM0s pic.twitter.com/BnlOAMfhpD

The lobby sounds like a logical place to start, so let’s take a look. According to Disney, the lobby will feature “iconic images from Pixar films at the front desk, with characters pictured larger than life in curated artwork.”
We’re getting some serious Mondrian vibes from this preview (if you don’t recognize the name, he was the artist that made those colorful square paintings).
As we’ve previously heard, the lobby will host the iconic Pixar Lamp balancing on its ball, as well as a character-inspired mobile! Imagine seeing this in person when the sun shines through the glass — STUNNING!
Additionally, guests can look forward to a new water play area inspired by Finding Nemo. There will be a 186-foot-long waterslide, a pop-jet splash pad, and more!
Don’t worry; the fun doesn’t have to end when the sun sets! Disney shared that a family play court will be added to the deck area with plenty of fun activities inspired by Pixar’s short films. (Some of the short films include La Luna, Bao, For the Birds, and Burrow — give them a watch if you haven’t seen them yet!) Disney also teased a little snack spot where guests can enjoy food and drinks under the umbrellas from The Blue Umbrella.
But wait — there’s more! Disney previously announced that the team from Great Maple will open a restaurant on the first floor of the hotel. Here’s a peek at the upcoming restaurant!
Great Maple is a Southern California-based modern American restaurant that is known for playful takes on upscale comfort food. Disney shared that the restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day. “Playful takes on comfort food” is exactly what a Pixar-inspired hotel needs, don’t you think?
We can’t wait to see this hotel open up later this year; we’re already daydreaming about the new foods we will be eating at Great Maple! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
