As you may already know, Disney World has announced that they’ll be closing the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel later this year.
The experience opened in March 2022, and it was truly one-of-a-kind. Similar to a cruise, you stay “onboard” the Halcyon Starcruiser for two days while you live out a Star Wars story and participate in activities, watch entertainment offerings, and have all your meals in the dining room. But the experience didn’t perform as well as Disney hoped, and now it’s set to close. Bookings reopened for the final voyages today, and if you’re trying to plan one last trip, we have some bad news.
When Disney announced the closure, they paused bookings for a few days so that those who booked for October-December could sort out their trips and change their travel dates if need be. Bookings reopened on the morning of May 26th, and it has been chaotic to say the least.
The Galactic Starcruiser can only be booked over the phone, and as such, the phone lines have been incredibly busy today. When we tried calling the Starcruiser-specific number, the call wouldn’t go through and we couldn’t chat on the website either.
We’ve also heard reports of travel agents having difficulties as well. Some who tried were left on hold for several hours before being told that the Galactic Starcruiser phone lines were full.
We’ve been monitoring the Disney World website closely to see what availability for the Starcruiser looks like in the coming months, and as of the time of publishing, there are still several voyages available to book. We’ll continue checking to see if more sell out.
So if you’re trying to plan a trip to “space” today, you’ll likely be facing some challenges. The final Starcruiser voyage is set for September 28th-30th, so we’re interested to see if all the voyages fill up until then.

So yesterday, May 26, I attempted to call the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser to inquire about reservations using my Disney Visa Card, which had been advertised as saving 30% on select dates back in April. I inquired if there were any dates left open using this discount. The Cast Member I spoke to told me Disney would no longer honor this discount. She offered to check dates but the Starcruiser was “pretty much sold out”. This was 5 pm. I had hoped to travel to the Starcruiser with my 9 year old daughter and her father one last time before the permanent closure. Very unfortunate and disappointing.

Was fortunate to get a booking. Not the one I wanted, but good enough. Had a travel agent (Mouse Fan Travel actually) do the hard work for me.
Back when the Disney Visa card discount was announced, I nearly booked a trip. Wish I had … sighe…
