You can get almost any kind of food at Disney World, from corn dog nuggets you can eat on the go, to a pricey filet in the swankiest of settings.
So while we tend to run around the parks during the day in casual, comfy clothes, what do you wear out to dinner in Disney World’s fine dining restaurants? And is there a dress code in restaurants like Jiko?
Jiko — The Cooking Place is one of the most romantic and delicious restaurants on Disney World property. We can highly recommend this one if you enjoy excellent, gourmet food and a lovely and tranquil atmosphere.
Given that this is an upscale restaurant (A.K.A. what Disney considers to be a “signature” restaurant), there is a dress code. According to the Disney website:
- Men must wear khakis, slacks or dress shorts and collared shirts. Jeans may be worn if in good condition. Sport coats are optional.
- Women must wear Capri pants, skirts, dresses or dress shorts. Jeans may be worn if in good condition.
- Not permitted are tank tops, flip-flops, swimsuits, swimsuit cover-ups, hats for gentlemen, cut-offs, torn clothing, and t-shirts with offensive language and/or graphics.
So, there you have it — the dress code for Jiko. While it will require a little pre-planning, and you may want to change after a day in the parks, this restaurant is not overly strict about formality.
While you’re there, we highly recommend the Oak-grilled Filet Mignon with Macaroni and Cheese, and the Botswanan Seswaa Short Rib.

We were there last year and the dress code was definitely not “enforced”. It was disappointing to have dressed up for a special night out only to have others that came in pool attire.
