If you want to skip standby lines in Disney World and Disneyland, you’ll need to purchase Disney Genie+. Those Lightning Lanes can come in handy for popular rides that get long wait times, saving you time that you could spend elsewhere in the parks. But for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, you might NOT want to skip the standby line.
Even though we expect lines to be pretty long once Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens in late 2024, it sounds like waiting in the queue might be worth the spent time.
We attended a media event in New Orleans recently where a Disney spokesperson revealed more details about the queue for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. They said that there’s “never been a better time to be in a standby line.”
The Splash Mountain re-theme inspired by The Princess and the Frog will extend to the ride’s queue, with audio and music playing a central role in the experience.
It sounds like you’ll be able to learn more about Tiana’s backstory while you wait to ride the attraction. Disney said that the story of the attraction begins in the queue, where you can explore Tiana’s relationship with her parents. A spokesperson said that the queue will show what made Tiana the person that she is today.
That’s not all, though — Disney also plans to fill the queue with the scent of fresh beignets to pay homage to New Orleans culture! We already know that’ll make us crave beignets, so we’ll just plan right now to head straight for Port Orleans – French Quarter after the ride so we can get some. (Or better yet, maybe Disney will open a beignet stand along with the ride? No announcements have been made about that, but we’ve got our fingers crossed. 🤞)
Note that Disney has not yet announced whether Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will be included in Genie+. It could open with a Virtual Queue and Individual Lightning Lane option (like TRON Lightcycle / Run in Tomorrowland) or simply not have a Lightning Lane option at all. Splash Mountain was part of Genie+ previous to its closure, so it seems likely that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will be as well, but no definitive announcements have been made.
Even if Genie+ is offered, though, it sounds like the queue is almost part of the attraction for this ride. It will likely be worth exploring at least once, even if that means a longer wait!
