Yes, a LOT is changing at Disney World hotels.
New Disney Vacation Club villas are being built over at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. A NEW restaurant is coming to Disney’s BoardWalk Resort. There’s a lot of construction happening over at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. We previously learned that Disney’s Beach Club Resort would be getting some room upgrades, and NOW we can show you what those upgrades look like!
So we got a chance to look at one of the rooms that has already been upgraded at Disney’s Beach Club Resort. This is a Club Level room. The rooms’ look and feel might be changing, but you’ll find that things like desks, side tables, TVs, and bathroom vanities look the same.
Here’s what the rooms looked like BEFORE their makeover:
Here’s another photo of the older rooms:
Here’s what the NEW upgraded rooms look like. The beds basically look the same as before.
You’ll find a desk, along with the TV and a chest of drawers on the opposite side of the bed.
The chair has been updated to match the new room’s look and feel.
At the far end of the room is the same side table from previously — you’ll find a coffee maker here.
The sofas in the room are new and are now blue.
Be sure to check out that artwork above the sofa, though. It’s Donald Duck and his nephews at the Beach Club pool.
The rooms also have new curtains.
The bathrooms have also seen a little bit of an update. The shower curtains have been replaced with a glass door.
You’ll find new carpet in the hallways, too. But look closely — do you see those Donald Duck footprints?
So it looks like the Donald Duck theme is going to be seen throughout the hotel once the rooms are complete.
We’ll continue to keep an eye out for more updates on when ALL the rooms will be updated at Beach Club. In the meantime, though, the resort will remain open. Amenities at the resort will also remain available. Construction noise may be heard during the daytime, but there should be no disruptions between dusk and 9AM.

That new Donald Duck artwork is also rife with hidden (and some not-so-hidden) Mickeys. I already located five in under two minutes. I wonder how Donald would feel about that. Maybe let’s not tell him.

Do they have any new rooms at the Yaucht & Beach Club with a walk-in shower?
Carvell Lin says
Pretty esoteric Donald Duck decor!

A rug, paint, and a picture make this WDW Hotel no different than any Holiday Inn. There’s nothing about the referb that suggests what the outside of the building says. The worst remodel IMO was Olde Key West where everything “Key West” was replaced with generic chain motel design.
The magic used to start as a guest opened the door to their room. NOW? Not so much.

I saw a video of the refurbished deluxe studio at the villas. It’s a shame they did not go with the glass shower tub enclosure there as well. I prefer the glass enclosure but I am sure plenty of other people prefer the curtain. Either way looks nice. Any word on progress at the villas yet? Thanks. Always on top of the latest and it is most appreciated. You all are a great resource!

Looks like the best change that wasn’t mentioned is that the carpet was replaced with hard flooring. This is always such an improvement as carpet is disgusting and isn’t clean even when it appears clean.

I think those are the most unattractive curtains I have ever seen. They look like X-rays one after another.
diane says
pretty generic/bland except for one picture, gone are the days when you knew you were staying on Disney property or in a specific resort.

Plastic flooring in a deluxe hotel (but let’s try and fool people and call it LUXARY vinyl tile), and Wayfair looking furniture and lights? Non-discript fabric for curtains…what makes this unique? A few prints of Donald Duck? It is so generic and cheap looking. They need to stop following trends (did they get their ideas of “beachy” from House Hunters?) and start being leaders in design and themeing again.

And the prices will continue to Rise…

Were the mattresses replaced with new ones? A reviewer said some of the beds they’d slept on there weren’t supportive or as comfortable as the yacht clubs were and needed replacing soon.
Joni says
Really doesn’t seem like it was themed at all except the pictures on the wall.
Richard Mercer says
Unfortunately, I’m sure none of this applies to the rooms “out back”, i.e. Beach Club Villas/DVC.

If you own one of the many themed villa’s in the Orlando area you would be gutted at all the actual effort you put into your themed home when you could have just put up a few pictures for no expense at all and called it a themed home.

So theming and the Disney experience from the moment you step into the hotel have been replaced with bland, generic decor and furnishings, and a few pictures on the wall that might be in any hotel in the greater Orlando area. Very disappointing. Paying Disney prices for what looks like a mid-range Marriot just doesn’t make sense. I can’t understand the logic behind stripping away unique themes from each hotel.

Wow, I see lots of negative comments. My best friend and I will be at Beach Club for 5 nights in September. I look forward to being there and there are so many things I enjoy about this location. I think the rooms are fine and after all, I’m only going to sleep there. Im older so Donald Duck blesses me and brings back lots of fond memories. I have tons of comic books from the early 60s and 70s. I for one, can’t wait to get there.

Those have to be the most hideous curtains! The only theming here is Donald Duck. The sofa looks like something from my college dorm room 20 years ago…and it was so uncomfortable, not one sat in it, just piled laundry on it. The designers appear to be doing everything they can to remove the Disney experience from their resorts. So sad, that used to be the reason I was willing to pay the extra bucks to stay in a resort versus save money and stay in a chain motel. The chain motels seem to have more theming than Disney now. Why?
Just a cheap look with no reason to stay there. What will they renovate next? “Stormalong Bay”? Yikes!
Tink03477 says
Are those sofas sleep sofas? If so they are really small.
Jason says
Where can one purchase the Donald art work in the rooms? I’ve looked high and low. My daughter loves it and I would love to surprise her with some artwork for her bedroom

“Deluxe hotel”!!!??? Not with cheap wood look vinyl floors!! Which are easy to clean! Sure! But allow noise to transmit a whole lot more! Not to mention, cold to walk on. And the refurbs keep looking cheaper and cheaper!

People have been remarking on the rush to blandness in the rooms and I have to agree. I also hate the refurbishment to many of the hotel lobbies such as the Grand Floridian, Saratoga Springs and Old Key West.
When I remarked to one cast member that whoever re-did the Saratoga Springs remodel should be fired, they said “I agree.” In addition to lacking theming, what is the idea of putting throw pillows all over the place in the lobby? How many small kids have drooled on them? How often (if ever) are they cleaned? Disney has managed to make me have two competing emotions at the same time – boredom and cringing.

I absolutely love the Donald Duck art and his footprints!!
