There is ALWAYS something new going on at Disney World.
New rides open, old rides close and get re-themed, new restaurants open, and there is construction EVERYWHERE (EPCOT is still in an ONGOING state of construction). This progress is also happening at Disney World hotels, including Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground, where a restaurant is getting a HUGE overhaul.
Trail’s End Restaurant closed in April 2023 to get completely revamped. The restaurant is set to be re-themed into a NEW dining experience that will feature “a marketplace concept with expanded quick service options.” When it reopens, it will no longer be a table service restaurant (when it reopened a few years back, it switched from buffet to family-style).
We stopped by the site of the restaurant previously — it can be found in Pioneer Hall at Fort Wilderness. As you can see, it’s been blocked off and there are a ton of signs directing people around the construction area.
However, it isn’t just Trail’s End that’s closed. While construction is happening, both Crockett’s Tavern and P & J’s Southern Takeout are also temporarily closed. However, Mobile Order is available for P & J’s Southern Takeout — there are signs directing guests where to pick up their food.
So if you’re staying at Fort Wilderness, you might want to consider other food options. Like we said, you can still mobile order at P & J’s Southern Takeout. The Chuck Wagon is also still open during this time. If you’re looking for other sit-down options, you can always book Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue to get both dinner AND a show.
There are also food options at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, which isn’t TOO far away. You can find more dining options for Fort Wilderness here. In the meantime, we’ll keep an eye on the progress at Trail’s End Restaurant and let you know when Disney announces a reopening date.

They have really downgraded fort wilderness, its just a sad place now filled with construction fences, the removed the nice field and petting zoo, the restaurant is gone. the place is just a shell of its former self. way to go disney, people use to love it here.
