Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is one of the most luxurious resorts on property, so it’s no surprise that Disney might want to keep it lookin’ fresh.
The hotel has undergone a LOT of changes in recent years with the opening of new Disney Vacation Club villas, an updated Narcoossee’s restaurant, and changes at Citricos and Victoria & Albert’s too. But, the changes start comin’ and they don’t stop comin’ apparently, because we spotted more construction at the Grand Flo!
We recently saw some temporary construction walls go up in the Grand Floridian lobby which at first appeared to be related to the lobby renovations, but a Cast Member confirmed that wasn’t the case. The construction setup is all related to painting taking place for room renovations, NOT for any work on the lobby renovation.
But, as we continued our stroll throughout the property, we noticed that even more construction walls have popped up — this time over near Gasparilla Island Grill! As you exit the lobby to go outside, the terrace is blocked off so you can’t use the covered walkway to Grand Floridian Cafe or Gasparilla Island Grill.
Walls have been put up around the building, but when you get to Gasparilla Island Grill, there’s a break in the walls so you can actually walk through the construction zone into the restaurant. You can see the walkway blocked off below…
…but there’s still an opening for you to head into Gasparilla Island Grill if you want! Right now, the entire area is lined with lower fences so you can see the whole construction zone, but Disney could change that in the future. But, you shouldn’t have any problems getting to Gasparilla — at least for now.
As construction continues at the Grand Floridian, we’ll be sure to keep you updated with info you need to know that could impact your visit. Disney World is changing all the time, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for the latest news!

Did the Grand Floridian give a discount on rooms, considering all of the construction? They should!

I was at the Grand Floridian in May 2023. We were happy that they said there was construction and we were not bothered by it. I would have been furious if this had been the case when we were there.

Do you think the lobby will have those walls up for the Christmas holidays because they usually have the Gingerbread House up in that area and it’s really going to ruin the ambiance of the lobby! We are going to be there during the first week of December and I was so excited to be staying at the Grand Floridian because it is always decorated so beautiful, so I’ll be very disappointed if it’s a mess with construction underway.
