EPCOT has seen a LOT of change over the past few years as it undergoes a massive transformation. If you’ve visited EPCOT recently, you might have noticed that construction walls seem to be almost everywhere at the front of the park. That’s because there’s still work to be completed.
Not only is a new Moana-themed attraction coming to that part of the park, but the World Celebration area is getting a HUGE overhaul with new structures and a statue of Walt Disney. So let’s see how construction is coming along on all that.
Let’s take a look at the progress of Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana. This walkthrough attraction will allow Disney World visitors to “play with magical, living water.” More importantly, this attraction will have a LOT of shade, which is something DESPERATELY needed in EPCOT. We are here for all these trees. The latest construction shows what seems to be a kiosk set up for Cast Members. This could potentially be the entrance, too.
We’re also starting to see a few more structures taking shape, as well as an area with a lot of “rocks” that could be a water play area.
Moving to one of the OTHER projects under construction at EPCOT, Communicore Hall has some pillars up now. This area will be part of a dedicated festival area that will be EPCOT’s new home base for all of EPCOT’s festivals, as well as live events.
There’s another building in this area that’s also taking shape. This is all part of the Communicore Plaza area.
We’ll continue to keep an eye on construction at EPCOT, and keep you updated on things like opening dates and more. So stay tuned to DFB for ALL your Disney news!

I really hope that the Moana experience utilizes the Magic Band + technology.

All those trees they put up are badly needed in Epcot and look amazing. I’m super excited to see how it turns out.
