We’re already counting down the days until the holiday season in Disney World.
Yeah, we know that might be a little premature, but it’s time to start planning our trips to Disney’s holiday events — Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP) and Jollywood Nights. Since there are TWO offerings this year, there’s going to be a lot to check out. But will people actually be interested in visiting the new event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios? We did some research!
We reached out to our followers on Facebook to ask “Do you think the NEW Jollywood Nights event at Hollywood Studios is worth the splurge?” and the results were pretty surprising.
Do you think the NEW Jollywood Nights event at Hollywood Studios is worth the splurge?

We had quite a few people leave their opinions in the comments, so let’s see what they had to say!
Yes, It’ll Be Worth It
Of the readers who commented on our post, 38% said that they believe that Jollywood Nights will be worth the cost. Many were excited about the special experiences available during the party, including character meets (like with Phineas and Ferb!) and unique shows (like the Muppets-themed one on Sunset Boulevard!).
Others mentioned that they were interested in checking out the two limited-capacity offerings at Jollywood Nights. There will be an “otherworldly soiree” at the Hollywood Tower Hotel Courtyard and a jazz lounge inside The Hollywood Brown Derby during Jollywood Nights.
On top of those offerings, some of our readers were just excited to try something new and different than Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. One expressed that they’re interested in going and they think the ticket cost is worth it just because it’s the first (and possibly only) year of Jollywood Nights. Disney hasn’t confirmed whether or not this will be an annual thing, so if you’ve got severe FOMO, now is the time to go!
That’s overall a pretty large portion of people who are prepared to pay for the event without ever having experienced it, which is surprising. But let’s see what everyone else has to say.
No, It’s Not Worth It
On the other hand, 30% of our commenters explicitly said that they thought Jollywood Nights wouldn’t be worth the cost based on what they’d heard about the event so far. Some lamented that it doesn’t sound like this event will have complimentary treats (like how Very Merry offers cookies and cocoa), while others noted that they didn’t want to wait in line for hours to meet rare characters.
Some also mentioned how expensive the holiday parties have gotten over the years, and that ten years ago, tickets were only costing around $62 per person. Now, you’ll have to pay at least $159 per adult to attend either Jollywood Nights or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
But besides those who specifically said “yes” or “no,” there was a third group of responders.
It Depends…
Some of the commenters avoided answering the question by simply saying things like “it depends,” “I hope so,” or “we’ll have to wait and see.” A couple people were hesitant to say whether or not the party would be worth it since we don’t yet know everything that’s included in the price. And on top of that, nobody has attended the event yet to share an opinion.
One of our readers said they would be watching to see how Jollywood Nights goes in its first year, then using that information to make an informed decision for 2024 (IF it returns). Another reader mentioned that they don’t have children, so they’re really hoping that this party will appeal to the older crowd. At least, more so than Very Merry does.
So it seems that the question of whether or not the party is “worth it” to people will rest on several factors. It will need to include enough offerings to keep people entertained, and it would certainly help if there’s some kind of complimentary food or snack involved. Also, some of our readers were concerned about crowds, so the event will likely have more value if they limit tickets more than they do for MVMCP.
We’ll have to wait and see where public opinion stands after the first event, but we’ll make sure to bring you all the news when Jollywood Nights kicks off in Hollywood Studios. We can’t wait to check it out and share every detail!

I think it’s pretty obvious that $159 is totally ridiculous for these after-parties on so many levels,
Not only are they giving you nothing of value for this money, but let’s consider their thinking here:
“We have major crowd problems during these [and other] dates, so let’s close the parks early…creating more crowding during the day…and charge people an additional fee to experience the same crowding at night!”
It is absolutely obscene, and if they think they’re going to save the rest of their holdings by milking every penny from park visitors, they’re in for a big surprise.

We may be going in November and I’m actually thinking of splurging on the ridiculous $159 ticket to the Very Merry Christmas Party! Why? The difference in the cost between a 3 day ticket and a 4 day ticket is about $109. So if we use the Party ticket as our day at the Magic Kingdom, it will actually only cost $50 more per person to do the Christmas Party. I think the Christmas Party is highly overrated and over priced, but I would like my husband to see the Christmas Parade, which is only available during the party or the week of Christmas. I would be more willing to do the special events and pay more IF they truly limited crowds, but the last time I went to the Christmas Party, it was a mob scene.

I have noticed that there is plenty of availability at DW this summer, even this holiday weekend. I have also seen a 4 day ticket going for $99 & a 4 day ticket for locals at $58.
Looks like the post pandemic DW crush is over.
