One of the best perks of staying in a Disney World hotel is the free transportation!
Between the monorail, Skyliner, buses, and boats — there are plenty of options. But sometimes, not all options are available when you need them. This was the case in early June when transportation to and from Disney Springs to some hotels via boat was suspended, forcing folks to find other means. Cast Members shared conflicting stories about the halted service, but we’re not too worried anymore as the boats are running once again!
Good news, friends! Boats are once again running to Disney Springs from the nearby hotels! Service had been suspended for a few weeks, and Cast Members originally gave us a few different reasons as to why it was stopped in the first place.
A Cast Member at Saratoga Springs told us that the dock area had been drained for about a week. Apparently, a lack of rain impacted some of the waterways to get to Disney Springs.
Another Cast Member shared that there are dams in certain parts of Disney World to control water flow — one at Disney’s Old Key West Resort and one at Disney Springs by the dock. Because of lower rain levels, the water is around a foot below its normal level and was losing more inches of water each day.
Luckily, you won’t have to worry about this anymore, as the boats are all up and running! So, if you’re trying to get to and from Disney Springs and any of the following places, you can now take a boat once again:
- Disney’s Old Key West Resort
- Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort
- Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside
- Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter
Central Florida and Disney World have seen more rain in the past few weeks than the area had seen in quite a while, and it looks like the water levels have gone back to normal, allowing the boats to run again. We often stress how important it is to be prepared and go with the flow on your Disney World trip, and this is just another example of an issue you might run into that you’re not expecting!

Any word on if the boat landing next to The Boathouse will reopen?
It is such a major inconvenience to catch the boat down around the landing just outside of Rainforest Cafe – especially when you’re at the shops on the other end of the Springs.
