Disney’s made another quiet menu shakeup!
We thought the makeover at the snack stand in the Magic Kingdom hub and the recent menu changes at Energy Bytes were just about all the menu changes we could handle for the past few days but it seems that menu changes are now hitting some of the Disney hotel restaurants, too!
On a recent visit to Disney’s Boardwalk Inn, we were strolling down the boardwalk checking out the sights, sounds, and construction projects (like the Cake Bake Shop restaurant that should be opening soon!) when we thought we’d pop into a restaurant to grab a snack. Boardwalk Deli is a Quick Service restaurant here, so we decided to head inside and see what looked good.
If you’re not familiar already with the Boardwalk Deli, it was formerly the Boardwalk Bakery and was transformed into a sandwich shop just about a year ago. It’s home to a few sweet and savory snack options, small desserts, and refillable soda fountains for the resort refillable mugs. We’ve already done a full restaurant review — click here to check it out!
When we went to glance over the “side” options for our order this time, something surprised us. A few of the Disney hotels have been serving housemade chips for quite a while now, with Boardwalk Deli being one of those locations. However, this time we were offered a bag of Miss Vickie’s chips instead.
When we asked about the housemade chips, we were told that they were no longer serving them and that the pre-packaged chips were the only option now.
This is pretty disappointing — we really loved those house-made potato chips!! They were super crispy, perfectly salted, and had just the right splash of vinegar flavor. Ah, well. We can only hope that they’ll return sometime in the future.
We’re not sure just yet if any other quick service locations are also affected by this change. We’ll be visiting a few other restaurants that usually offer house-made chips to find out!

Meredith Brown says
Maybe it’s a seasonal change? The extreme humidity in Florida during the summer would make it difficult to keep the chips fresh.

Miss Vickie’s chips are very good. They are sold at Jersey Mikes sub shops
