It’s long been our opinion that food just tastes better when it’s Mickey-shaped, especially in Disney World.
Like regular waffles? They’re okay. Mickey waffles? THE BEST BREAKFAST FOOD ever. Pretzels are alright, but Mickey Pretzels? The stuff of our dreams! Ice cream bars are BORING, but Mickey Ice Cream Bars are AMAZING. Well now a classic snack is getting the Mickey treatment, and it’s everything we ever wanted…or so we thought.
If you’ve ever stayed at a Disney World hotel, you might be aware that they all have some kind of campfire where you can roast marshmallows for free. So we headed to the campfire at Disney’s Riviera Resort.
But you can also buy a S’mores Kit and make your own S’mores. Previously, we had 50th anniversary S’mores!
Well, NEW S’mores Kits have arrived at the hotels, and y’all — THEY’RE SHAPED LIKE MICKEY. We got ours at the Riviera and a Cast Member told us we were the first to buy them there! YAY!
The new Mickey-Shaped S’mores Kits for $7 feature two Mickey-shaped graham crackers, two pieces of dark chocolate, and an artisan marshmallow with “notes of vanilla and honey.” Yep, Disney S’mores just got an UPGRADE. Just look at this Mickey Graham Cracker!
So we got busy and started by roasting our marshmallow by the Riviera campfire. Note that these are like homemade marshmallows so they look a little different from the ones that come in a bag at the store. They kinda’ looked like a block of cheese to us! We also noticed that these don’t really roast like regular marshmallows, but they did get gooey.
Then we put together our S’mores by adding our roasted marshmallow and chocolate to a graham cracker and topping it with another graham cracker. There you have it — Mickey S’mores!
But the most important question is, of course, HOW DID IT TASTE? First, we LOVED these graham crackers because they were soft and not crumbly like regular crackers. A Cast Member also told us all the ingredients are made locally, and we could tell because the flavor was SO fresh.
The ingredients basically just melt in your mouth and the flavors are SO good. But honestly, we just need to buy a bag of the graham crackers, which were our favorite part. The chocolate pieces basically just get sucked up into the marshmallow and they didn’t taste like anything but Hershey’s, but it still worked.
So is this worth $7? Well, if you’re wanting a fun Mickey snack or looking for something to do with the kids, maybe? But that’s still a lot of money for just one S’more — who wants to eat just one? You can get regular marshmallows at each campfire FOR FREE, so it might make more sense to bring your own graham crackers and chocolate. You can check your hotel’s schedule to find out what time the campfire is available each day.
