It’s no secret that things don’t always work the way they’re supposed to in Disney World.
We’ve seen rides have animatronics removed when they didn’t just work right. We’ve seen animatronics do some weird things while on rides. Sometimes rides even close because it’s having some technical difficulties (Rise of the Resistance, we’re looking at you). However, what happens when you’re on Kilimanjaro Safaris in Disney’s Animal Kingdom and the ride breaks down while you’re on the savannah? Well, now we know!
One of our readers, Lance, shared with us that while riding Kilimanjaro Safaris recently, the truck started smoking right after it had crossed the crocodile enclosure. The Cast Member driving the truck immediately shut it off and called for a tow truck. Meanwhile, smoke started coming up from the front of the truck and wafting around.
However, the Cast Member stayed cool and collected and made sure that everyone knew that they were okay — and in the shade — and that everything was under control. A maintenance crew came out and towed the vehicle through the rest of the safari, so everyone on it got to complete the ride.Â
This is just an excellent example of how Cast Members are prepared for these kinds of situations, so guests can know that if anything goes wrong, everything really is under control. All you have to do is pay attention to the Cast Member and follow any directions you are given.
