We’ve seen a LOT of changes for Genie+ since it was first introduced in 2021.
We’ve seen it all: from surge pricing to new rides getting added to the feature, it’s been tricky staying on top of everything that HAS changed with Genie+. We recently got word that Genie+ was going to have some MASSIVE changes soon, and well, the time has come to remind you of those changes.
Starting on June 27th, Disney World visitors will purchase Genie+ based on the park they want to visit. Different parks will have different prices, although a multi-park option will also be available. However, prices will vary (because surge pricing is still in place) and both the one-park and multi-park options will be subject to availability.
This does mean that some parks will cost less than other parks, though. So expect Genie+ in Magic Kingdom to cost a bit more than Animal Kingdom, based on demand. You will continue to purchase the service through the My Disney Experience app, though. Note that you may need to update your app when these changes go into effect.
So if you’re visiting Disney World on or after June 27th, don’t forget that these changes are taking place. If you’re new to Genie+, be sure to read our Ultimate Guide To Genie, Genie+, and Lightning Lanes. We’ve also got a step-by-step guide if you want to know HOW to use Genie+.

Every time I read an article about Genie+, I find it more confusing as a concept. It seems so convoluted…

Do we know yet, if we have park hopper tickets but only plan to use Genie+ at the park we plan to hop to later in the day if we’re able to purchase for just that second park rather than being required to purchase the park hopper option or the park that our reservation is for? We like to stack our lightning lanes for later in the evening when we start the day at Animal Kingdom or Epcot. How do you think that will work?

Disney CLAIMS they want to make Genie Plus easier to use. Seriously? This keeps getting more complicated AND more expensive.
