While we love Disney World, there are plenty of things about the parks that aren’t our favorite.
We’ve had plenty of snacks that aren’t our favorite, and any price hike makes us wince immediately. But what about our readers? What do YOU all despise most about Disney World? We asked, and you answered!
We took to Facebook to ask our readers what they hate most about Disney World, and over 3,500 of you replied! So let’s take a look at the most popular responses.
THE COST
The biggest complaint of our readers will be no surprise to you — it’s the cost of the vacation!
One of our readers even shared that she’s been traveling to Disney for 30 years and has really seen a difference in pricing throughout the years, and we understand. Disney World vacations are expensive, even if you’re staying off-property. Park tickets themselves have jumped in price a lot, so even going for a 1-2 day trip costs a pretty penny.
The Disney parks used to be a vacation the average family could afford, but that’s questionable at this point.
Complex Planning
Disney World has gone digital in the past decade, and while that’s easier in some ways, it’s also made learning how to do things a lot more complicated.
You’ve got to plan lots in advance now (but remember that park passes will be going away for the most part in 2024!), plus think about if you want to pay to skip the lines with Genie+, think in advance when you want to order your food so you don’t miss a decent time window and now your whole family is starving. Do you want to dine at table service restaurants? Some of them require reservations to be made 60 days in advance before your vacation even begins!
Yes, Disney World has required at least some semblance of planning in the past few decades, but it was also possible to wake up and decide on a whim what to do. That’s become a lot harder recently, and many of our readers are hoping the spontaneity can return soon.
Crowds!
Despite doing many things to upset Disney fans, the parks are very, VERY crowded.
This especially became an issue when the parks reopened after the COVID-19 closures and returned mostly to normal, as we saw a massive amount of revenge traveling from guests whose vacations had to be canceled previously.
While the revenge-travel trend has died down a lot, the parks are still very crowded, and some guests feel it gets more and more crowded with each passing year. Some feel that Disney should open a fifth park to help spread out the crowds, while others feel the existing parks should just be expanded upon. Regardless of the solution, many fans feel Disney needs to find one ASAP.
Weather
Disney World can’t help where it’s located, but being located in Florida is a downside for many guests because of the weather.
While Florida can certainly get chilly in the winter, Florida is mostly known for its HOT and HUMID weather during most of the years. Summers are absolutely brutal to all guests, but especially those who aren’t used to the humidity combined with already high temperatures.
Some people just don’t do well with high temperatures, or if you don’t keep yourself hydrated, you very well may find yourself VERY miserable on your trip.
Leaving/Not Being Able To Go More Often
On a more positive note, we had a lot of readers say they hate having to LEAVE Disney World!
We can definitely relate to that — the post-trip sadness is real! Other readers shared that they really wish they were locals so they could visit more often, so they hate they’re not close enough to take casual trips.
All of these are very valid reasons to find Disney World frustrating, and there are SO many more out there. To all of our readers who shared their thoughts — thank you so much! I use to go probably once every other t year sometimes once a year but it just got too expensive for alot of us we could go for a family of 4 for 3 grand including flight . It’s all about money and greed

We miss Disney’s Magical Express and the former Fast Pass System. The parks still carry the aura of Disney’s money grab from the Chapek era. With Disney’s Woke Agenda, which Iger denies (right!), I think of Disney like today’s FBI; the leadership is atrocious and the rank and file Cast Members (and agents) are wonderful.

I have been a DVC member since 2008 with 2 home properties. If I knew then what I know now I don’t know if I would have invested sooo much in Disney!!

We go to a Disney at least once a year, sometimes more often. The thing I hate the most is when guests are rude. The ones who rudely have their phones on in dark rides, talk during shows, treat cast members poorly, cut lines, leave trash laying around, stop in the middle of crowded walkways instead of moving to the side, etc. It’s supposed to be the happiest place on earth, and it is but for those folks. Thankfully, there are more nice folks having fun than the rude ones.

There is definitely a distinction between the have and the have nots. It is not the affordable family friendly fun park. Now it is just too expensive. You also did not mention the food. Not great and super expensive cross the board and all parks. My last visit caused me to go off site to Subway and McDonalds for dinner on more than one evening. It did not used to be that way
