Genie+ just CHANGED in Disney World, so of course we had to check it out today and see what’s different about it.

Disney Genie
Disney announced a little while ago that Genie+ would be changing to have park-specific pricing, so now the cost of the line-skipping service will vary both by date and by which park you plan to visit. We bought Genie+ today so that we could show you how the process is different now — let’s check it out!
You’ll continue to purchase Genie+ through the My Disney Experience app on the day of your visit. Currently, sales are available beginning at midnight, and all visitors can make their first Genie+ selection starting at 7AM. (Keep in mind that you may need to update your app when this change goes live.)
Now, when you open up your Genie Tip Board in the My Disney Experience App, you no longer see today’s price for Genie+, because that price is different for each park. Instead, there’s an option to view the prices and purchase Genie+.

Genie+ Tip Board
We clicked on that option and were taken to a page that details what Genie+ is and how it works.

Continue
There are both single-park and multi-park options for Genie+. It looks like there’s just ONE multi-park price, so that price will not change based on which two (or more) parks you plan to visit. (For example, if you were planning to go to both Disney’s Animal Kingdom and EPCOT in the same day, it will cost the same as if you plan to visit Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.) It also looks like the multi-park option and Magic Kingdom will be the most expensive options.

Pricing
Remember that these offerings are subject to availability — Genie+ can and does sell out during busy times!
Today, the prices were as follows:
- Multiple Parks (valid with Park Hopper benefits): $27
- Magic Kingdom: $27
- EPCOT: $18
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios: $24
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom: $16
Remember that these prices can and will change depending on the day. On busier days (like summer break and the holiday season), we’ll likely see them go up, and when Disney World is less crowded, we’ll probably see them go down. However, it seems likely that the parks with the highest prices now (Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios) will continue to have higher prices and Animal Kingdom and EPCOT will continue to be cheaper.

Main Street
You can click “See Experiences” on each option to find out which attractions are included in Genie+. Remember that some rides have Individual Lightning Lanes that you’ll have to purchase SEPARATELY from Genie+ in order to skip the lines there.

Rides included with Genie+
From what we can see, it looks like the list of included attractions is the same as it was before the change. (These screenshots are not the full list — you can scroll in the app to view them all.)

More rides
You’ll pick which park you want to visit (or the multi-park option) and then continue to the next page, where you’ll confirm who you’re purchasing Genie+ for. Be sure to check all members of your party.

Confirm your party
Then you’ll view your cart, which will have a subtotal (tax is not listed here — it will be added on in the next stage) and you can click “continue to checkout.”

Check-out page
From here, you’ll just enter payment information and confirm your purchase. Overall, the process is pretty similar to how Genie+ was purchased before, only now you choose which park you want to visit.

EPCOT
Several readers have sent in questions about the changes, and we’ll be testing those out and reporting back to you today, so stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more updates!

I have a question regarding the new system. Say I bought the animal kingdom genie+ for the day for $16, and we originally didn’t think we’d want to park hop for that day, but later in the day decide we want to go to magic kingdom, is there a way to get the genie+ for magic kingdom without paying for another $27 or can I just upgrade for $11?
This is the worst idea , next to virtual ques, that Disney has ever come up with!!! There was nothing wrong with Fast Pass and paying more is ridiculous!!: I will never walk around the parks with my face in my phone!!!
Hi Luke! If you decide to upgrade your single-park Disney Genie+ Service to the multiple-park option, you can visit Guest Relations for assistance, but keep in mind that upgrading will depend on if there are still multi-park options left.
Way too expensive. Still. No thank you.
This is the worst idea Dianey has ever come up with. The extra hassel for this is slowly making Disney too much work to visit. If you figure this out, this is a HUGE money grab by Disney for this. You could buy Disney Plus for ALL the parks last year for 15>20 per person in off-peak times. I can only imagine what the multi-park Genie will cost now. People say this will be cheaper. I disagree, this will be MORE expensive for anyone that park hops. So now with the increase in the park hopper tickets, there is an increase in the multi-park Genie? Did they re-hire Chapek and didn’t tell anybody?
About park hopping and genie +. Does that mean for the one price of 27 dollars, you can use it all day tall the parks? For example using it at magic kingdom then later at Hollywood studios?
Gigi, what are the chances of buying a multi park Genie+ and actually getting to the next park after 2 pm and snagging a couple more popular rides??? From what I see evening Genie+ rides are all (plused) out. Unavailable to reserve. Disney knows where you are and what you’re doing, park (jumpers) hoppers were able to buy Genie+ in first park then use hopping to second park….Walla!!! now u gotta pay for it and not guaranteed. To ALL my PEOPLE, make a stand>>>do not buy MULTI PARK TICIKETS, this is a small ask, but Disney will take notice>
Why are we paying for the failure of Disney & other companies in not providing adequate ride’s & entertainment, basically there getting people to queue jump & paying over the top, having all ready paid for the privilege of entry, that’s why it’s all going downhill, Walt would turn in his grave.
Hi there, so my question is for AP! Are we to choose the multi park option and it will work with our passes, or is this strictly for people with single and park hopper tickets?
Hi Melanie! You can choose any of the options. If you’ll be park hopping that day, definitely go with the multi-park, but if you’re just spending the day in one park you’ll only need the Genie+ for that specific park.
I’ve never had any issues getting popular rides after 2pm, but we are diligent about refreshing and checking so it’s really just going to depend on how much you want to ride everything and how willing you are to spend a little extra time with your phone. That’s not something that everyone will want to do and that’s absolutely okay, just use your best judgement when deciding whether or not to purchase the Multi-Park pass. Do keep in mind, however, that if Magic Kingdom is one of your parks, it’s generally the exact same price as a Multi-Park pass so if there’s a chance you might hop at all, choosing Multi-Park over Magic Kingdom (if they’re the same price that day) may be beneficial.
Hi Jo Ann, yes, if you buy the Multi-Park Genie+ option you will be able to use it all 4 parks.
