So you managed to snag a Virtual Queue for TRON Lightcycle / Run.
Congrats! You’re on your way to entering the grid. You’ll soon be racing through eight Energy Gates to claim a victory against the menacing Team Orange. And, with a Virtual Queue, you won’t have to wait in a standby line, so you’ll be able to breeze right through to the ride once your group is called — right? Well, not exactly.
Disney uses Virtual Queues to manage demand for their newer, more popular attractions. At either 7AM or 1PM, guests can try for a spot in the Virtual Queue on the My Disney Experience app. Once their boarding group is called, they can head to the attraction. Virtual Queues work in place of a standby queue, and theoretically, guests will do their “waiting” while they are enjoying other parts of the park. But unfortunately, it doesn’t always go so smoothly.
Once your boarding group is called, you need to head to the attraction to scan in for your time slot. But often, the line just to scan in can be a bit of a wait. In the past, we’ve waited around 30 minutes just to get through to the ride queue!
Then, once you get to the actual queue, it can be another 30 minutes or so before you’re at the attraction. Usually, newer rides have fun, themed queues to enjoy while you wait, but it’s a good idea to be prepared for this setback when you’re planning out your day in Magic Kingdom.
Want to avoid a long line as much as possible? The faster you can grab a slot for the day (and therefore the earlier the boarding group), the shorter the wait time is, typically. But, you can always plan on paying for a Lightning Lane instead to have a more seamless experience.

We waited all day for our group to be called. Once it did, the line was 3 hours. 3 hours. We waited until 11:00 pm to ride. Never again I don’t care how cool it was. Disney is really taking advantage of our kind nature and love for the parks. How much more can we take? We are done.

We were really lucky and snagged boarding group 20! Used the world clock countdown on another device and requested exactly at 7a. Our group was called at 930am despite being told it would be around 1115a! It took maybe 5 minutes to tap in and then another 10 before we were on the ride. Super easy!
