The One Reason You Should Go to Disney World During the Busiest Week of the Year

We’re about to tell you to do something we’ve never told you before.

We usually tell you to do everything you can to avoid Disney World during the holiday season, ESPECIALLY on Christmas Day. The crowds are usually terrifying. You’ll probably pay more for your hotel and tickets (except for maybe this year). PLUS Genie+ is usually more expensive due to demand. Well, we asked YOU, our readers, and not only do you LIKE going to the parks on Christmas Week, but you recommend it!

Yes, that’s right. A LOT of you love going to Disney World during Christmas Week. We have to say — we get it. The holidays are particularly special when you’re in The Most Magical Place on Earth. Here’s what you told us!

Celia has a unique perspective on that week at Disney World because of Cast Member experience: “Yes I have, & worked there during that chaos. But, it was a totally different kind of energy, & the holiday buzz could really be electric. It was always fun getting to “haul out the holly” with my coworkers, & experience it from that side. ”

The holidays can get busy, but they’re still magical

Cassandra has a suggestion for those wanting to visit that week: “We go every year between Christmas and New Years. With a GOOD plan, it can be so much fun!!! You just have to know that you cannot do everything.”

We agree — if you plan ahead, you can enjoy the trip, especially if you know that you can’t do EVERYTHING. Even during slower times in Disney World, you can’t do everything.

Lisa also had some great Christmas week advice: “Loved it. Go realizing you will not be able to do everything. It is VERY crowded. Everything is beautiful. Visit the resorts (amazingly decorated) Just immerse yourself in the holiday spirit!.”

That’s another thing we have to mention. The resorts also get decorated for the holidays and they are GORGEOUS. You can even visit a life-size Gingerbread House at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort.

Carla summed it up perfectly: “Yes, the decorations are awesome. It makes it feel even more magical.”

Those decorations are AMAZING, we agree. That tree on Main Street, U.S.A. with all that garland? MAGIC.

It’s so BEAUTIFUL

Malicia thinks dealing with the crowds during that time is worth it: “Yes! One of my most treasured memories. Be prepared for crowds but the decorations, shows, and holiday extras are worth it.”

Jeff has some good advice in dealing with the crowds: “Done it a few times. Make sit down dining reservations for at least 2 meals a day, gives you a break from crowds. Take a break in the afternoon, go back in the evening and do park closing, after 10pm, little or no crowds. Have patience, bring your Holiday spirit!!”

A LOT of you had some great tips. Heather said, “We have. Plan carefully!! We did Magic Kingdom on Christmas Eve and Animal Kingdom Christmas Day! Set ride expectations LOW and just be prepared for everything to take extra time!”

We love Jacqueline’s take on it: “Yes, just relax, pace yourself (do not rush) take your time, breathe and take in as much as you can plan for those things that are important to you and family but don’t overlook those little things that can make your trip something special to remember. We get caught up in trying to capture those big things but those will be unimportant later, the smiles and giggles and most importantly is time together or if your a loner make new friends and listen.”

Jessica has made it a tradition: “Yes!!! Every year since 2012 except for 2016 when our youngest was an infant. Our absolute favorite time of the year to go. Everyone has to experience it at least once in their lives. It’s the magic of Disney and the magic of Christmas combined to give you the most memorable holiday ever.”

Okay, so not EVERYONE was super stoked about previous Christmas trips. We did have a few “never again” answers, but we were honestly surprised by how many of our readers would recommend visiting Disney World during Christmas week. Like our readers have said, if you pack your patience, have a plan, and prepare yourself for the crowds, you very well could LOVE it.
